I tell a potential partner right away (2nd or 3rd e-mail) that I have bipolar disease. I think honesty is the best policy. It gives them a chance to find out about it by asking me questions, or doing their own research.

I have no problem dating anyone with any disability.

Good luck to you...handshake

I wouldn't wait until the first date. I'd tell them after i have been talking them for a while and we were talking about meeting in person. If you leave them to find out for themselves, i don't think its fair on them and it saves anyone from getting hurt.

That has happened to me also. Never be ashamed of your disability. More women appreciate you being up front and honest rather than hiding it. If they do not want to date you because of your disability, do not be mad at them and do not look down upon them.

People have different experiences with all aspects of life. A woman who will not date you because you have a disability, may have had a traumatic experience with someone who had the same disability.

But most important of all..it is not your disability that makes you the person you are, it is your ability to cope with having the disability that makes you the person you are.

It's ok...my best friend is paraplegic and it took a while before he got married. You just have to be patient, and the right woman will come along and love you for who you are!!

I am outright and honest from the very beginning...

Not that being overweight is a disability by any means, but it is the same sort of judgemental thing we fear. If you read my profile I am loud and clear about being chubby/overweight, I want to give that person the info right away in case that is not what they are looking for. I don't want them to be surprised AT ALL!

Plus it kind of weeds out the judgemental ones that I don't want to deal with in the first place. That way the men that do message me I know are interested in talking to me for me and my personality.

Good luck hun!
hug

Everyone has some disability be it mental/physical or social. I have word blindness or audio processing disorder. Which means i don't hear the beings of words. I had to have speech therapy as a child so its not a problem. and people don't really notice except when i upset. then words can jumbled.

Yes. I absolutely would date someone with a disability. It's pretty shallow if you think having a disability makes them less of a person. If anything, it makes them twice the person!
