Home schooled if I could afford it. I'd be sure to enroll them in a Boys/Girls Club of America community center at the same time so their social development didn't suffer. I just don't like stuffy private schools or dangerous, thug-ridden public schools.

And parochial school made me the neurotic that I am today. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy's kids...

I must have lucked out because the private school I went to was very liberal (non-sectarian also). The teachers were extraordinary, the classroom discussions were always very open-minded, they encouraged you to think for yourself instead of shoving their opinions down your throat, etc. Just about anything was permissible in terms of subject matter..... But if you didn't do the work, and if you didn't abide by the rules, they threw your sorry ass out. By the way, if you were caught breaking the rules either through plagerism or cheating, etc., you were "judged and sentenced" by a judiciary committee comprised of fellow students....

P.S. This is not to say it was a perfect system. Sports suck and offering scholarships to public school students hurts the public schools (but helps the kid). Also, there is an awful lot of pressure on the parents to contribute over and above the tuition to help fund the school. The whole "snob" factor is unappealing - but overall, the fact remains that these kids tend to not only survive high school, but also graduate and do better in adulthood.

If it will help my kids do better in life, I will find the money somewhere.

Thanks. I guess this is a big area of concern for me, but no fun to ponder alone!
