After trying to read through some of these (at times incomprehensible) posts I will try and be kind in saying that it is absolutely obvious that no one here has any legal training whatsoever let alone any experience in or even basic knowledge; even interest in or of Constitutional Law. Posting what are mere diatribes for or against the politicians involved misses the entire prima facia argument/ statement at the beginning.
Further to my points is the fact that no one here has read, or probadly has never even heard of the massive 1,249 page book called "The Torture Papers: The Road To Abu Ghraib" which for all practicle purposes is a legal indictment all unto itself against the entire Bush regime but of the leaders themselves. It it very specific and very detailed as to all what are understood by international agreements to constitute "war crimes".
It was published and edited by Karen J. Greenberg and Joshua L. Dratel, intro. by Anthony Lewis.
Greenberg is the Executive Director of the Center on Law and Security at the New York University of Law and editor of the NYU Review of Law and Security.
Dratel is the President of the New York State Assoc. of Criminal Defense Lawyers and is the lead defense counsel for David Hicks, the former detainee at Guantanamo.
This volume was published in 2005 by the Cambridge University Press. I would strongly urge all to obtain their own copy so as to gain some possible appreciation of the crimes co9mited and if not, then that doesn't leave the ones that claim Bush or his regime is not indictable for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Isn't ignorance so blissful....a really serious thread let alone a real discussion or debate on here is a joke. The accepted rules by all academic and public institutions could not last longer here but of the opening premise. But of course we aren't talking about anything to do with 'academia' are we; it all comes down to who can insult and threaten the loudest and the longest and basically bully everyone into what I shall term as 'patriotic debate' which if anyone has ever seen the film Billy Jack, will recall with pride the american white patriots treatment of those who are different in any way, to beat, to punch, kick, strangle the one Indian while they oh so proudly sung the National Anthem...it was a magnificent scene and should warm a lot of hearts here. It bears viewing over and over to fully grasp all its meanings.
Have fun reading the book or seeing the movie, but beware: you may learn something and that just may indicate that you have an open mind....very dangerous on here, especially in the summer....it's 'controversial'!
