When oil became the life-blood of the Western world at the turn of the last century, it was thought that it would last forever. To date we have used up way more than half of what remains. The rest can't be recovered because of the energy it needs to recover it. Example; The Canadian Oil Sands, within the near future, it will take a barrel of oil to recover a barrel of oil. Meanwhile the corporations and governments are cashing in their last chips for the greatest profits, and they are doing it NOW. They know the facts. The average corporate head or senior politician is 50 years old, and they only care about their BMW, mansion, golf club membership and winters in the Barbados.

This is a FACT.

I am not yelling that the "Sky is falling". I have done my homework on this subject. This is the beginning of the end, witnessed by you each time you fill up, or pay your gas bill. Food as you are witnessing will double in cost within 2 years.

Global Warming, or as it's now called, "Climate Change", will lose out to the oil depletion and the disaster which is underway.

Ok after reading this and carefully thinking it through
I have to think that the gov. and the oil company's are going to suck every last nickel out of oil until we can no longer afford to purchase fuel
I believe they already have some other way to get our money and are just holding back until They are no longer profiting from oil.

The gov. is not going to ever try to stop them because Higher fuel prices mean higher prices on every thing else which= more tax dollars.

Good point, but very soon we will not be able to pay taxes. Look at the closures of plants which depend on oil to produce products which we can no longer afford.

Perhaps it's time to turn my garage into a stable and start cutting wood in the summer. I'm thinking that will happen before the oil runs out simply because of the cost of fuel.

If you are referring to the North Sea, forget it. They are lying to you.

I never cut live wood That would be disastrous to the environment. But a dead tree that is about to fall over or one that is already down plenty of them in the woods around here.

No, it's not fact. There is plenty of oil to go around forever...the tool of fear used for obvious reasons is a powerful one.

I'm with you on this one. thumbs up

Too many people buying into the fear that the media (owned by corporations), feed the masses to justify cock-ups and hijacking prices.

A lot of problems could be lightened if we bought locally produced food anyway - maybe this crisis will have good effects on local economies, after all, we all still ate before the multinationals got their hands on distribution and production of what we eat.

The whole materialism thing may just abate a bit if or when this crisis escalates - we have been sucked into the money machine of consumerism for too long - its destroying our planet..........

I wonder what they need the money for? If its not real, and I'm not saying I know either way, but generally speaking, prices don't rise this much in a short period for no reason at all.. professor

Ya, I understand that part, but they could do that any time they want and have now. There has to be a reason we just arent privy to. Maybe they fell short and needed to pay their own energy bills soz... laugh

SO china announced they are raising their gas prices and in its wake, oil prices dropped overnight... dunno who'd a thunk we would have china to thank for stopping the madness of capitalism rolling on the floor laughing
