It's always easy to ban that which one does not do, or are effected by. If they can't find a health reason or an environmental harm, they make the shit up (e. global warming)

I look at it as a rights isssue, it is a legal product. Where does it all end? What do we ban next? Fat people perhaps? Skinny people? Fast food? Coffee? Cars? I dunno. I just wish politician's wouly the F__k out of my business, I'm getting really tired of it.

A free market will take care of those issues. If people don't like a smokey restaurant, someone will offer up a smoke free restaurant.

There's a state bill right now that will allow apartment complexes to go smoke-free. I can just see hiding in my garage...uh oh!

Lock yourself in the bathroom and turn on the exhaust fan. Just use a stepladder to stay close to the fan.

(I'm here to help) applause

It's your right to smoke, it's my right to be able to breath. A middle ground area for the issues would be nice, but since humans have a problem with what area to comprise on...

all I ask is to be able to walk someplace with out having smoke blown in my face, or be picking up butts from idots that think my front yard is their ashtray.

Gee thanx....rolling eyes

Personally I think the non-smokers should lock themselves in the can and turn on the fan until the smokers are done smoking...since they're the ones who have the complaint!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is just one of society's problems that needs to be solved, and frankly, it's really not a very difficult one.

I happen to agree that we should ban smoking in public buildings. Second-hand smoke has been proven dangerous so it's only sensible that we not do it. But smoking is not illegal (yet), so you’re not talking about a bunch of criminals here. They are your friends, neighbors, mother, fathers, co-workers, etc. I have to tell you it just irks the shit out of me when I see people get all haughty and treating smokers like "Second Class Citizens." Either make the shit illegal or learn how to fix the issue at hand.

Why not just ban smoking in public places but ALSO to provide some sort of respectable covered area were smokers can go to have a puff when they want to? Is that such a huge compromise? When friends come to my house and want to smoke, I hand them and ashtray and send them out to sit under the cabana. Problem solved, everybody’s happy. End of story.

Those of you who point your fingers should remember that there is just as strong an argument to be made about how alcohol is dangerous. So beware, all you drinkers...you may soon become the next second-class citizens.

Are you in debt up to your eyeballs? Did you make bad choices and buy things you couldn't afford and now have a gazillion credit cards you can't pay off? Guess what, you're hurting us as a society so we may be coming after you next.

And who knows? By the time we get to YOUR bad habit we may have slunk so far into this new mentality that we’ll just haul you down to town square and host a public hanging.

It’s nice to see there are others here of like mind.

Hey, Indy…going back to my sandbox now…
grin

There's always a pecking order in any society. Once smokers are extinguished...look out, you may be next.

In my opinion, the word "ban" is one of the most dangerous words in the English language...... There isn't alot of thought nor compromise which go into the word "ban".... it is a simple solution that advocates one group's desires over anothers, and I think that due consideration should be made concerning its use, whilst we still live in societies that consider themselves to be free......
