hmmm....

Seems to me that if you aren't happy with the person put in charge of the country, this can only mean that you did not do enough to get the better person elected. I have had no use for any of the people placed in charge for as long as I can remember. This includes congress. I also take responsiblity for my inability to get the best person for the country elected. For this I have been letting my country down.

There is one thing that I can proudly say.... I am a free thinker and not a mindless sheep being lead to slaughter.

At 20 years old, you really cannot have a lot of experience with politics. DO not allow that to offend, at 20 I knew little myself. Please allow an old fart, one old enough to be your grandfather, clue you in on a little secret about politicians. THEY ALL LIE!!!!! Do NOT be stupid enough to think he (or any other) will change a damn thing. It is about the POWER they think they will have..

You see, this is the big difference between the young kids that are getting involved in the election this year and the older crowd that have seen many elections before. if we just accept the fact that nothing will ever change in our country then we have no pride in our country, no patriotism, no faith. it's people like JFK and his brother Bobby, MLK, and now Barack Obama who inspire and give hope to a nation that is being torn apart by many different crisises. these people create and shape our history. the people who sit back and say, "nothing is going to change, blah, blah, blah..." dont ever change anything and no one remembers them.

this "hope" is real. its driving a new generation to demand change from the government.

what's wrong with hope anyway? whats wrong with wanting something better, or believing that we can have something better? to just shoot it down as if it werent possible is so un-American. changing is what has made our nation the way it is today. Lincoln believed in change and he changed things. Jefferson believed in change and he changed things. things can and will change. it just takes the right people that are willing to change things.

Now i'm not so naive as to think that Obama is perfect. He has flaws and he is, at the end of the day, a politician. but he's not pedaling a message of hope and change just to get his seat in the oval office. his hope for our country is pure, ive read his books and watched his speeches. ive studied his past and i understand him. no one wrote off JFK because he lacked experience or because he was young. they believed in him. whats wrong with believing in Barack Obama?

What politician doesn't present "change" as a part of their campaign theme? Kerry did it. OwlGore did it. Dole did it. The list goes on...

Perfectly said!thumbs up The older folks want it both ways.. saying that the youth are our future, yet turn around and say that our youth don't know squat.
Instead of being so set in our ways, sometimes an open mind is beneficial.

What, does CS need better and stronger rules? Is so, here is the reigning (or is it raining) authority on rules:
"I do think it would be helpful to get the United Nations in to help write a constitution. I mean, they're good at that."

OK the most idiodic statement was not made by any poitical figure.
The dumbest thing I have ever heard Came when I was in the middle of a fight with my ex, being embarassed in front of a good friend. Needing to make a point and statement, Opennin my mouth to state I was not placed on this earth to only please him (myEX) But what came out in a fit and furry stamping my foot to further my point, I was not placed on this earth to be pleased!
I looked emeditlly to my friend in shock and said, OK I did not just say that! and walked out.

Geor

You might have a point there, but I really just wanted to submit those quotes since this dialogue seems to have gotten way off track and looking kind of ugly. I think they are at least worthy of some consideration, don't you?

Geeze! frustrated I'm not looking for a fight mister. I don't even know who the hell you are!

I'm REALLY sorry to have bothered you, OK?
