I think that is how you spell it. Anyways on the market for helping people to quit smoking.

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS NOTED: News release that serious side effects.
Over 1000 people reporting agitation, hostility, and depresssion.

And if you are depressed, intensifies the depression. So take note if you or anyone else is on it. Talk to your doctor about getting off of it.

Take care everyone.teddy bear

I found this yesterday on the UK National Health Service website..

Champix works by reducing your craving for a cigarette and by reducing the effects you feel if you do have a cigarette. You set a date to stop smoking, and start taking tablets 1 or 2 weeks before this date. Treatment normally lasts for 12 weeks. It's only available on prescription and is not available if you are pregnant.

Depressed mood may be a symptom of nicotine withdrawal. Depression, rarely including suicidal ideation (thinking about committing suicide) and suicide attempt, has been reported in people trying to stop smoking. These symptoms have also been reported while attempting to quit smoking with Champix.

Just be warned of the side effects. That is all I wanted to get out for everyone. My friend is on it and she is showing signs of depression. She is even admitting that she feels something is wrong.
Good drug/ Bad drug. Depends on the person taking it. Our chemical
structure for each one is differenT. That is why side effects happen.
This news release was on CBC radio that I had heard of the serious side effects.

You do lose the nicotine craving, but there's still the psycological desire to light up now and then. The "habit" part of it remains.......for me anyway.

I hate to say I smoked, and would have to work myself up to quitting.
That took 6 months. But it was cold turkey for me. Then lots of water to flush out the nicotine. Now when I am around smoking. Yuck, and pee yew. Good luck in whatever you decide.

It had every listed side effect on me. It was horrible and I had to give up Zyban before I gave up smoking. Unfortunately I started smoking again, but never touched Zyban ever again.I was at least partially cured.applause laugh

These are not side effects of the drug, they are the natural effects when one quits smoking and even worse. but only last for a few weeks.

And chantix is not newly on the market, had been around for about 4 years.

It also makes the cigarettes taste like shit.... so you don't really want it even after you light it up.

But continuing to smoke has a lot more bad effects than the short term use of the drug.

I was also extremely nauseaus for days and had a headache that increased the nausea. uh oh!

It was so bad that I just couldn't function well and had to quit.

I also took Zyban - twice. The first time would have worked if I really had wanted it to.

The second. A few weeks into it, I noticed my vision was suddenly horrible. So I check all of my meds and the Zyban does have a side effect of vision problems. I stopped taking it and within a couple of days, my vision was completely back to normal.
