..sigh.. seriously though.. simply "resizing" a photo won't exactly make it smaller. I can send you a 100x100 pic that's 100MB, and then turn around and send a 1280x1024 pic that's under 1MB...

there are many many factors that go into the "size" of a digital image.

typically.. "web graphics" are 72 dpi.

the images that I work with are 600 to 1200 dpi...

the RESOLUTION of the image is what causes the filesize. RESOLUTION does not mean 100x100 or 1280x1024.. that's the "image size" ...RESOLUTION is how many dots are packed into a square inch.. the more dots, the higher the res.. ..and inheritly the higher the quality. ...and the more DPI.. the bigger the file.

just a little FYI...

Metalartist989 is correct you can change the view size and the file can still stay the same file size. Adobe has a good program for 'optomising' images for the web, its called image ready and an attached program to photoshop, whatever the latest release is. It is expencive but can be found on the temp work spaces at places like kinkos or such office away from the office work spaces and used at whatever their rate is for using their computers is.
