"I was recently contacted by a member here claiming to be an American from Florida, who grew up in Jamaica but is now working in Nigeria under contract with Chevron working on an oil rig. Claimed to be a widow who has no family apart from his sister and his son.

After chatting for a while and after pledging his everlasting love for me he claims to be a victim of a robbery and needs a few hundred euros to cover his hospital bill. Apparently he's badly beaten and needs medical attention desperately but has no money."

This is a classic yarn that many many 419 Nigerian scammers use. Gee wouldn't you think they could come up with something original?
I had one not too long ago who said she was flying to England in the morning and couldn't tell me the name of the airport she was leaving from or even where it was. She also took 5 minutes to come up with the name of the school she was enrolled in. I guess she googled universities of London.

Then there was one from a former eastern blok country who said her house was destroyed in a flood and she was pennyless. I met a guy on another site who actually went to her country and met her and he told me she took him for about $3,000 and she was married and lived in a huge house on a lake. He had the same pictures of her that I had and several more I had never seen. I could type here for hours about the scammers I've met.

Geez...This woman gets a guy to cross the pond to throw $3,000 at her, and I can't even get anyone to drive to Starbucks within the same city. frustrated

When I first got on a computer, not long after joined up on CS.First dating site.I read the section on who may be scammer, what to look for. Also read stories posted from others publicly on site.I have had some. The 30 yr. olds who give there addy first and last message.Of course they are looking for mine off site.I write back no thanks, reason for using this for messages.End of that.Be careful what you say cause anyone is anyone and scarey to think you could be leading a rapist,or killer to your town.Just use good common sense and trust your instincts, and a freinds.Don't let love talk and complements cloud your judgement.peace bouquet of flowers

I have also been contacted by at least 5 of the African scam artists within the last month. All follow true to their modus operandi. Contacted CS about 3 of them. One was immediately removed with a confirmation letter to me from CS. Now the other two are also gone. Probably will reappear under another persona. Hope everyone stays vigilant about this!! C!
