Here's my deal. I joined cause I was bored to death one day, I was just checking out profiles and one guy's struck me as funny, so I joined up.
Less than a week and I had a local guy contact me, we met for a date, went out with him a couple or 3 weeks. Then I was on here one day playing around on the forums, was really just learning my way around at the time. Met a man on a thread and we started talking and got together. I was in luuurrve, as Claire would say, and it felt good to have those feelings again, it had been a while. He was long distance, he came up and visited every few weeks or months. That went on almost a year, didn't work out but it was fun while it lasted! Been out with about 3 or 4 others, have had fun mostly with all of them. Nobody that I want to spend the rest of my life with, but I'm not afraid to meet people and have a good time, forever can take care of itself.
People come here and stay here for different reasons. When I was in a "relationship" I still wanted to come on and talk and have fun with the folks here. I don't have a lot of connections in real life to single men. All my girlfriends are very not so happily married, the church I go to is so tiny there's only one single guy, and I work in a very, ummm, urban area, so my prospects there aren't great, since I'm not likely to have anything in common with any city boys. Besides I don't think its a good idea to mix work with social life anyway.
Bottom line is I'm here to have fun, maybe meet some people, take it as it comes. I don't expect to hook up with my soul mate on the forums, it could happen, but I doubt it. That's not my goal, it's just to widen my horizens, and I've done that for sure! It's really given me more confidence in talking with people I don't know, I get lots of practice here, and I'm a lot more comfortable with being myself around strangers now. I've learned some lessons, discovered some things about myself, and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it!
