All that's a big thing in the UK..

We are encouraged to recycle .. conserve water.. electricity etc.. we have some big arse wind turbines (which I LOVE!) In Cornwall.. and scattered about the UK..

We have recycle banks all over the place.. for your glass cardboard.. plastics .. paper.. all sorts of stuff..

Even our dumps are no longer 'dumps' ... everything you take there has to be separated (by you) before it gets dumped.

Our big shops/stores use a lot of biodegradable and or recyclable packing.. bags etc.

People around where I live have water mills.. (small) wind turbines.. Solar panels..

I love the idea of all that.. I want a house one say with a turbine and solar panels.

Anyhoooo.. its a BIG thing here..

How is it where you are ? .... do you recycle? Conserve energy? etcetera etcetera

Recycling is the thing here to, we pay for our refuse collection by weight but dont have to pay to recyle. So we have different colour bins to seperate our waste into.

Yes.

Yes.

and Yes.

Am in favour big time. Have been involved in a project for these last three years on converting three houses, basing all on recylcing.

Recylced building, furniture, wood from pallets, garden walls from bottles, doors and windows, sinks, the works. Rain water is recycled by conserving it in a large underground reserviour purposely built.

We have succeeded in recycling 80% of material excavated on site for the pools, and installed solar water heaters for showers and pools. We are now in the process of costing the installation of solar voltiac and wind turbine for electricity generation. If we can make this project self sufficient, it would be fab.

In effect, the island where i live, Gozo, has been earmarked to be developed in an eco island. Albiet still on paper. But things are getting in motion. The percentage of collected recyable domestic waste has grown considerably since the introduction of a Monday door to door collection of paper, plastic and metal so far. Hopefully soon, we should have a recycling plant in motion locally, and also a bulk refuse collection centre for houshold and industrial waste sorting.

There is also extensive EU funding for any projects aimed at the purpose of recycling and energy conservation applications that may be adapted throught the EU.

In there I put all the food waste..

I have zero waste. If is doesn't go into the compost pile it is recyled in some way. I haven't used a garbage service in about 7 years. I haven't had a television in about 5 years. I kill my own meat and raise my own garden. On most days I walk or ride my bicycle to work.

Damn, you would almost think I was a liberal on steroids.

My viewpoint: Waste not want not. That being said... I also do not attent rallies to save anything. I do not believe in global warming (too much evidence against it if you really look), and I think that it is complete arrogance to say that we can really affect the world as much as the media portraits. I love the idea of people being responsible... but the representations made to us are completely off base.

You hit the nail on the head.

Look at Al Gore's mansion for instance. It uses twice the energy since it went green. So I now dub his home.... the green money pit.
