you guys are the best, am so glad that your all here. thanks for all the thoughts and well wishes. it was a crazy few days with lots of clean-up ahead.
regarding the curtains..LOL was kinda funny at the time, everyone laughed at me when i put them up like that..they all said it will only get a foot or 2 deep. haha it got 3.5' at one end of the house and 4.5', so the water would of got the curtains. besides, they were new..i only lived there 2 weeks before the water took over.
Ras...you can check a couple papers...cedar valley times, cedar rapids gazette, and the des moines register. in the next couple weeks, our local paper is running a big section on it (our local paper is small..hehe). im glad you were out of the way of the flood.
The floods hit Iowa's 4 major cities, so its taking alot of time and money to try and recover a little bit. So between the state and FEMA, plus what our local city can do...we are trying to survive and rebuild. Vinton alone lost our electric plant, sewer, fire station and new jail...not to mention another 60+ houses. We cant even compare to cedar rapids...not sure whats gonna happen there.
For me, no flood insurance at the time...only 2 houses within the 4 blocks around me had any...it wasnt recommended then...crazy eh! Im on it next time tho, even though they say it can't happen again...LOL, thats funny
but your all right, im very thankful that my kids and I are safe..and we really didnt lose much, i still have my curtains..
many many hugs to all of you!!!
