do you know it completely amazes me.. that seemingly 45% of the arguing on CS is on the religious threads.. (another 45% on the political threads... and the remaining 10% scattered about on any ole thread)

I just find it funny.. (and a little sad).. that people that follow a religion and want all this peace and kindess to man blah blah blah..

are fighting and arguing.. confused

Then there's someone like me.. a humble ole Atheist.. (plenty of us!) doing my best not to argue, to deflect confrontation.. and avoid hurting anyone's feelings. confused

Somethings wrong there somewhere.. laugh

Thank 'god' am not religious!

I agree.

I am quite religious and my views have been evolving towards a broader prospective meeting people here esp. those who are atheist.

I think religion is " personal " .. its can be shared , discussed , understood and practised but not forced !! The entire basis as i have understood of all religions is " betterment of mankind " or something on similar lines ... but that doesnt mean thats THE only way or THE only thing to do.

Its to love and be compassionate ... but we seem to forget the essence of it all and instead go verbatum which is totally misplaced hence.

Albert Einstein: "A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death."

Religion itself is fine i guess....

I believe it was set out as in all goodness to help man/woman kind...

Its the assh***s that have destroyed it..

When a religion promotes the killing of other people we know there is something wrong...

Maybe the historical religions were pure at some stage but with generations of selfish changes we are left with a several deadly weapon.. dunno JMO..
