Are we trying to out spiritualize each other???

Why have there been so many "spiritual" threads lately??? It's either Christian, Muslim, Buddist, seers, mediums, and the list goes on and on. Are we trying to out do each other and tell the world we are more spiritual than the next person???I'm beginning to feel like I am back in Bible College than on a dating site!!

And, before I am accused of trying to stop religious threads,( I know there are those just waiting to say that), Post away!! Just trying to figure out why all these threads...all of a sudden!!

laugh laugh laugh

Maybe it is the tendency of July 2008...hehe
A little bit more serious -as I started one, though I would not call it SPIRITUAL OR RELIGIOUS..... Jesus!!! ...that word spiritual is used so freely and even the bloody pope with his huge bouts of food and luxury could be seen as spiritual...lol!!)
It must be just what some people want to talk about or a reaction to other kind of crappy threads. In actual fact I wonder what kind of threads should be the appropriate for this site? And the answers are relative. From my perspective -not looking for any hot-love here- I can say that some flirting and some discussion is okay.... as for the threads asking if I like 69 to ejaculate or stuff like that I just simply hate them.

I suppose the presentation as "spiritual" for some people is just a little bit of make-up of their personalities. I suppose that most of that is bullshit (I mean I have seen many profiles with that word) as the spiritual thing is manifested privately: you and the One you and yourself, or Christian god, or Allah, or whatever... the Tv-commercial-like thing of presenting myself as spiritual is just a modern creation.
I think your thread will provoke more threads of the kind you have mentioned above ...hehe ( I am afraid..... that is the mechanism of action-reaction of karma....)
here's to you (a spiritual creature finding enlightment in some alcohol)

I hate misinformation! I find much in the common beliefs of Christians and I want to help and clear up or give them new information to consider. I am not intending to make believers. I do the same type of thing with other subjects. I just did it again....just a minute ago.

Sometimes people know what is right and desire to do so. But do to bitterness and anger they know that to do one without the removal of the other is fruitless. Some things take time to get over and remove. This does not stop a person from knowing things that others may benefit from.

I have to agree.Surely things are not that bad that people have to resort to being religious maniacs to get attention!!

Hey date me i'm a fundamentalist Christian/Jew/Catholic/Protestant/Muslim/Buddist with a burning wish to ram my beliefs down someone elses throat with all the finesse of a sheet metal worker beating the crap out out of some aluminuim to make a new bumper for his pick up truck!!

Sooner or later the penny will drop that some of us just dont want to know about whether is someone who's greatest purpose in life is convert others to their chosen religion!!

Some of us come in for a laugh, to socialise and some even come on the dating site with the hope of meeting people with the express hope of meeting someone!!

Let the religious ones debate on msn amongst each other, and if they want to fight let them do it there!!

I agree with some of your points but I have to say that it is quite disinformed to use the term FUNDAMENTALIST fr buddhists. Buddhism does not pretend to be close, and it is not even a religion as many people think... and Buddha is not a god, it is not a prophet or any stuff liek that.
Full stop. AS for the MSN thing, I won`t defend those discussions -see my post above for explanations... and certainly I do not give a shit about talking endlessly about something that has only meaning when I put my life in front of a mirror- but your statement is quite realtive... with the same right others could say that other kind of stuff, for example yours -they find disgusting- should be discussed or fought about in the bloody MSN.

Religion is for people who are scared of going to hell.

Spirituality is for those who have been there.

No...but there are other subject, not just sex and religion. If people could discuss religion instead of trying to proselytizing, it would be different.

People here don't want to discuss religion...they want to subjugate other's beliefs!!

Clearly if you know anything about cultures you'll know the last people on the planet to force a belief on anyone else is a buddist.

So a fundamentalist Buddist is possibly rarer than a speckled hens tooth mounted in gold and being sold for $20k and sold on Rodeo Drive.

Personally i live by my own set or morals (Bushido) and i don't need a framework to tell me how to believe, what to believe or when to do so.

As for me being misinformed, well perhaps you should look up the terms Irony, pith, and joke in the dictionary.Clearly what i said was a joke, along with making a point that some of us are a little fed up with hearing the constant tirade or religious dogma being spewed out onto the forums.

In times of crisis humanity turns to the unkown for thier inner sanity.

This has always been so since the Cave. The spiritual nature of the human being has been evident in all forms since the dawn of civilisation.

Religious cultures developed, ruled, and disappeared from history. Others remain. The now, today, our planet is undergoinh upheaval, with the related mood of pending crisis.

It is therefore understandable that most common global religions become stronger during these times. Humainty is dependant on thier guidance att his age.

As to fundamentalism mentioned, it is present in most religions. There is always a percentage of believers, that lost in thier blindfolded beliefs of being right, will try and impose the same on others.

It is up to us, believeers or non, no to allow that.

Ever.

For any religion.

Also you probably already know that religion is a dogma whereas spirituality is a belief/faith that needs no framework (as Robbie said I think).

Religion and controle fit pretty good in the same sentence whereas you could never have spirituality and control in the same sentence ... IMHO

The worst part is if you are not responsive as in totally agree with them you either get attacked or vilified so its by far the best policy to tell them repectfully to go preach their bile (in some cases) somewhere else!
