speaking of terms, when they let me out .... well nevermind... I think the nature of debate is diametric opposition, dont you not? You can hit the nail on the head or pound it in on an angle, either way it gets in, and actually the anglular insertion is preferred for 'holding strength'.. thats just my and some carpenter's opinions.

To use an engineering term, I think an 'interference fit'
is more apt on here sometimes.

I don't think there's anything wrong with talking about ones spirituality and expressing it,but I ALSO DON'T THINK it's right to force my perspective on spirituality onto others,or say things like...

''YOU better get some of my type of spirituality while there's still time.''

laugh

Ah but can love hold things together logically. Diametrically opposed mirrored twins. I say no, what say ye? do they need to be held together? or are they doin it all on their own without our nailing and hammering?? not to mention the best crazy glue of debate, belief!

laugh.... yeah see since I have made the decision to become more faithful, I kinda have to suspend disbelief, because of some of the amazing things that I have felt and witnessed... Me 6 months ago, would not have believed the half of it... really.. the power of the Holy Spirit (which is present in us all to a degree) becomes more noticable and pronounced when you become a Christian and can only be described in the supernatural context and cannot be described logically, One can experience premonitions, and receive insight & wisdom which astounds even the receiver....and I have witnessed the power of healing.... to most (and me 6 months ago) it seems like a load of nonsense, but when you actually experience it, you have to concede that it happens, and that 'logic' does not always apply... the reason I say 'love' ties it all together is because 'love' of itself is a powerful divine force which if embraced could contribute to curing many ills in the world...

I think that what people do in their bed (sex, orientation etc),or their head ( religious or philosophical beliefs), should be no one's business but their own, unless it directly relates to someone they are living/working with and gets in the way of peace in that relationship.

Only in trying to get attention for being different, or better in some individual way, or just to plainly piss other people off, would people argue about that stuff.

People, in places like this, seem to jump the gun and presume that if they put all their beliefs/thoughts/habits out there, then someone is going to see who they really are and like that, when in actual fact it puts most people off getting to know them, based on what the person just said about themselves.

Anyone else think this?

No. I don't think that.

Some people have the confidence of knowing that NOT everyone is going to like them, BUT they are happy with WHO they are ... and so they don't "hide" their beliefs/thoughts/habits ... And some people don't give a damn what others think whether they are happy with who they are or not!!!!

When you say "when in actual fact IT PUTS MOST PEOPLE OFF getting to know them" .
I am sure you know what YOU think but, may I ask how you know what most people think?

Why is it that you see people who have come to terms with the facts they might be "not the norm" and therefore are at ease with sharing a bit about what they believe in - why do you see them as attention seekers?

wave hug Agree!!! Let and let live!! ... Unless somebody physically grabs you and forces you to experience or listen to stuff you have no urge to be part off!!!! laugh

Your recent experiences sound beautiful. The purity of love can only enhance the lives of those touched by it.

This is directed at you Aries. Just me sharing a belief: In the case of love within a relationship, IMHO, love is NOT equal to infatuation, lust or controlling the other person so they are always within sight to pander to ones egotistical and/or physical needs. But rather, love gives the space/freedom to grow and expand ones mind, away from one another or together BUT always walking side by side holding hands metaphorically love This could also apply to platonic but strong friendships. teddy bear

Glad to see so many responses to this.

I am all for people talking up their spiritual beliefs and making them known. The problem for me comes, when they are so dogmatic that they state their beliefs as fact, and any dissenting opinions are heresy!!

Thanks for your inputpeace

wave hug..

Me too... I really don't like preachy dogmatic anything!!... I run a mile!!... think is why it took me so long to find the right Church and fellowship... strangely I have always had people try to give me Bibles and invite me to meetings... I have a book or Mormon and a New World Translation (Jehovahs Witness).. and have gone to a number of meetings... the main thing I disliked strongly about all of them is the fact that they were dogmatic, forceful, preachy and above all... judgemental.... Jesus isn't like that.. so what in the heck gave them the right to be.. just does not make sense... it was like they felt they belonged to an exclusive club, and almost delighted in the fact that the big bad world was not invited.... REALLY don't like that... as far as Jesus was concerned EVERYONE is invited... I also didn't like that these people tended to be 'sinister' sweet.. would make my blood run cold uh oh!
