ttom500: Ever think that Europe might be to old? That with your 1000 years of history have come more wars and more oppression than mankind should have evern faced and endured?
European history is so filled with war over even the most trivial of things. A crown prince gets assignated by a radical group.....and you
have WWI....where millions are killed. Napleon, Hitler, Mussilini, Stalin,
the Spanish Inquisition, and many others....all fall on your side of the Atlantic, Dude.
When JFK was killed....by a radical...with connections to Russia and Cuba.....we did not pull out the nucs....and destroy Moscow and Havana. But that incident happen in good old Europe....and you have a another World War.
Europeans have figured out more ways and more reasons to fight than any other collection of people on the face of the Earth. It was Europeans that collonized the Africa, India, S. America, N. America,
the far East and the coast line of China. Each time they did....either slavery or abuse occurred.
At least when the US goes to war, it is for a moral purpose. Ending Sadam's regime and removing the Taliban/AlQeada were moral purposes to war. Milosovic's engaging in Kosovo, Bosnia, German invasion of Poland, Checkoslovia, France, Stalin's occupation of Eastern Europe......where in any of that was there a moral purpose?
If Europe wants to debate histories with the US........it needs to look it own with a closed eyes, because if you open then. It is scarry. The last 1000 years of European history.....include the dark ages......include the inquisition.....include the Holocaust.....
And the same wars and dark age and facism and stuff, made europeans learn from their history TT, and became able to accept the necessity of solidarity. Americans have also learned alot from their past but still the history of America is too young
