Do you feel safe in your neighbourhood?

Posted: Jul 10, 2008, 9:26 PM CST
Yes I feel very safe... I to do not lock my door at night... I live in the middle of the country.... BFE... granted we have our share of kids thinking it would be funny to bust windows and distroy mail boxes but they paid for it. God is my protector but my neighbor hood is still one where kids run around on bikes with their dogs as they please ... with the biggest danger being snakes!

No, it has happened again right now, someone put dead grass and pieces of wood and a plastic bag with some sort of solvent and tried to burn our fence down. The police just came, so have to go.

Hello,
Yesterday was judgment night in my district.
I know that is the district with very bad reputation but I live there all of my live (with little break).

When I back at night some people break glass in the window than somebody break glass in back window of the car. Something very big (I don't know what - chair?) was throwed into it.
In my house was open night shop. And maybe this night was start war between owner of this shop and occupant which leave near this shop.
Maybe owner want to frighten him? I don't know but it wasn't pleasent.
Have a nice day without problems

yes, this is a very safe place
i live in a gated comunity

thieves can only come in walking, or riding a bike
cars cannot drive in unless you have the code

after the gas prices increase, people in this comunit do not undetand how is posible that if thieves can only walk in or ride a bike, they can steal gas from our cars

this is a gated comunity, stranges driving a car are not aloud
why will they steal gasoline from cars if they do not drive in with their cars

so yes, the board of directors keep saying this is a safe community, they might be right

Vereeee safe.. I live in place where people still don't lock their doors.

I went away once for 2 weeks.. and left the doors all unlocked..

might get a sheep or a fox wandering throo the door.. that's about it.. haha

Nothing happens around here.. well.. as a rule anyway.

Sometimes.. someone has an affair..

but thats about it. haha

I'm with Claayer. I rarely lock doors, people rarely walk in. If they walk in, I have a fit, for about 3 days. I used to meet them at the door with a shotgun, when I lived in the city. Now, I'm accustomed to my privacy and open doors, with good weather. Affairs are other people's business.

Reading some of your replies, I envy you.

My last home in SD, I always left the door unlocked. sheds unlocked and items left out in the yard.

Here in MO. I keep my door locked always. drugs are just crazy here and the drug freaks.
Is safe enough in the daytime to go for a walk, but don't dare at night unless I have my friends with me (either colt or Smith and Wesson)

Can't even leave a garden hose out because someone will steal it.
someone actually stole my remodeling lumber off of my front porch.
But come to find out it was kids and I got it back.. badly damaged.

Have 3 drug dealers in this block alone, had a shooting and a stabbing just across the street, a guy that makes porn right next door (police will do nothing because they say it is not illegal), have one guy next doors that sometimes kneels on the sidewalk and talks to God, and 2 houses down that is 3 Black men with white women and hate any white guys that come anywhere near their house as if protecting their goods, always yelling nasty things at white guys when they walk on the sidewalk in front of their place.
Had a fight down there a few days ago and we had 4 cop cars ( 8 cops) out here to break it up.

I am still walking with a cane, makes me an easy target,, so usually I am carrying.

I live 30 miles from any city. My aunt and uncle used to leave keys in the truck. It was stolen. Prolly best to keep keys inside. Even when I leave my doors open, I lock the storm doors. Never leave my keys in the car, even if I leave the windows down. The nasty police chief got run off, along with his friends, so girls are pretty safe and I feel okay leaving my windows open.

I'm happy to live in a piss-ant town, where I can leave my doors open, for a change. I can even walk around, without being accosted. The country's tough, but it has good points.

I had a wolf at my old house. Christmas morning, 2003, I had a bobcat on my back porch. I would pee my pants if one came in. I danced around, because one snoozed on my porch. I've seen two wolves, since. A cougar comes through my Dad's farm in the spring. We've only seen his prints.

Shhh, don't tell anyone. He doesn't kill anything, gets a drink of water and we look at one another, "Do you see what I see?" My step-dad says, "I don't see anything, and neither do you." We go down, count the cattle and rub out paw prints.

Wolves, bobcats and cougars, I feel very safe with those neighbors. It's the people, I worry about.

When I lived in the Black Hills, cougars were going through windows of houses to kill house cats. (right through the glass)
But never heard of one attacking a person there.
