What do u have allergy to?

Posted: Jul 13, 2008, 11:40 AM CST
Sulfa-Antibiotics.... found out I was allergic when taking them... started with a small read splotch on my neck and it became my whole body i was swollen up like a toad! Went to the ER... and they told me that they were surprised I was still able to breath and that I am never to take them again or they could kill me. They say because I was at band practice in the sun all the time (live in south texas) and the sun triggered it. Since I have to watch what Anti-bacterial soaps I use, or any antibiotic for eyes there is only like one that is not sulfa. There is also some landry soaps and I can not be around Lysol because they use Sulfa in it. Its not a big allergy really just one you gotta be careful of. I am just glad I am not allergic to some things listed above!

I am highly allergic to poison ivy, poison oak and poison sumac. I usually have to be hospitalized when I come in contact with it. My body swells up like one big poison blister. sigh

Could be anything from runny eyes,to a rash,shortness of breath,a dry cough,sneezing,headache.
In which case you may have hayfever and a antihistamin will help, and or you may need to see your doctor and be allergy tested.

how should you know your alergic to penicilin? I have chronic sinusitis now, back on antibiotics but it seems like I get same symptoms as when I started but worse. My energy has been sapped from me does this mean they are working. To answer the original ? its everything that irritates the linnings of the nose.

tks. Well I don't think I'm alergic to it then. Sinusitis does bring very simmiliar symptoms as you mention when its sever. I think polution is a main cause. Its unfortunate cause its getting worse out there.

very good. fresh air now days is like finding a good apt. The bad thing about smog is that if its sticks @ long enough it will deter from ever getting better when you already have allegrans or sinus case. Il take bay city into consideration. that's a funny one !

So far, I have never had an allergy to anything. I'm told they can appear at anytime in life.

The only time I claim I'm allergic to something is if I don't like it.

Well my dad likes to use this anti-bacterial dish soap by palmolive after I found out I was allergic I was unable to use it because my hands get red and splotchy and itchy... it goes away in a few hrs. As for lysol I am unable to breath very good it feels like someone is standing on my chest! Definitly was not things I thought about until about a month later when things started to add up to anti-bacterial things and I started looking at ingredients.

I also am allergic to local anaesthetic at the dentist consisting of adrenaline. When I had the injection I started uncontrolebly shaking and my heart started racing. It was very alarming. I need to make sure any future dental work does not contain adrenaline in the local anaesthetic.
