Ah but that's just me, the hopelessly hopeful one!

I dated one off this site for 11 months,we were to get married.But something just kept nagging at me.First he wanted to get a house and me pay half of all the bills.last night we talked and he said our bank accounts were to be seperate,I would pay for all the groceries,and then what we had left out of our checks woould be the only money we had to use.I would have saved 100 on rent and the utilities would have ate that up.I was in the hospital last week, he took mt to ER and as soon as I got in a room he left.He left me several times when I needed him,just so he could get in bed by 9 am.hes 13 yrs younger than me.I had no problem paying half the bills if I could have bettered myself.But I told him last night,I wasnt going to do that.So we broke up.I saw him today and he acts as if I never existed.What do u guys think,and have u had an experience like this?

I think, truly..... that you had a close call by the sounds of things. That is not gonna be what you want to hear but..... you DID ask?! All things considered, I am sooooo glad you had a lucky escape. A lesson to us all....

But... you do know that, whatever events you encounter, good or bad.... you can still come back here to us.... either cry on our shoulders or give us some fabulous news, whichever....

Its hard to know what goes on in the minds of couples, especially when only one of them is posting.....however, with divorce rates as they are....and my observations of married couples, i wonder why so many people feel inclined to sign a Marriage Certificate.....i think most families are 'quietly dysfunctional'.....the public sees the persona....not what goes on behind closed doors.....not saying 'all' marriages don't work....only indicating that in reality few really 'do' work....i think many stay in bad marriages convincing themselves for whatever reasons that that is what they are supposed to do.....

so to answer your question, you just saved yourself years of unhappiness.....and that is worth sooo much more than splitting bills.....
