Should marriage be a time-bound contract???

Do you think marriages would have a better chance of success if it were time-bound, say for 5 years?

LOL, I heard that they recently came up with that idea in Germany, as most marriages don't last longer than that anyway these days laugh (it's actually sad)

I think marriage should have a mutual fund built in from the start....the longer you stay in, the better your asset growth, the better your performance, the better your performance..:-)...and good behaviour gets increased share of dividends....early annulment you pay a penalty....

I think when we all enter a marriage the intent is there to try to make it work. Sometimes it doesnt go that way blues but surely a binding contract is taking it to the extreme and believe me from experience as soon as you sign the dotted line boy can things change. And when you are raised to give it your all you certainly are raised to put up with more than you should.

Divorce is something no-one should be proud of, but at the end of the day if you have given everything you can you shouldnt be ashamed of it either.wine

Very true. A marriage contract is just that though. A contract for life. Some people use that to control and keep people for years using emotional blackmail and such.

An optional out or renewable contract might give some a failsafe device to get out of jail, so to speak.

Just a thought.wine

The ONLY reason for a marriage contract, is the family....the woman needs security because she's the one who's career usually takes a hit....

Marriage is a huge committment, that needs to be looked at as such, its more than the white dress and the tux.

Unfortunately not many think about the kids and what will be happening in 20 years time when they are signing that contract.

The trend seems to be moving towards people thinking about living for now and not the future or prospective future of themselves or their kids.wine
