Exactly what quality of woman do you plan to find at a bar?
I mean, if you're fine with the scene then, sure... but if you seek someone out in that environment, you can't very well complain if she's back at the bar again each night.
The point being, if you want to meet someone who has interests you share, then you have to be active in those areas... like bowling, camping, boating... whatever. If drinking at the pubs is your thing, then have at them, if you want a change of pace, then change it.
Figure out what night the single women shop at your local supermarket, visit an ice cream shop & sit outside, coffee shops & book stores can be wonderful meet up places too. If you don't mind a single mother, visit a toy store. Mind you, you had better have a nephew or niece to shop for or you'll be listed a pedo perv.

Do you have a dog? Walking an animal is a wonderful way to meet the ladies. Jogging, biking or even walking in the evenings makes for exposure which may create opportunities.
wink

All the best!

Place good/bad as other place.
You never know when you can meet someone but in club, bar you can find favourable occasion to start new acquaintance and continue it later.

What on earth is the problem with going to bars and meeting people?

I go out at the weekend with my friends, we meet in a bar that we like for a few drinks and a laugh. Most people I know have met there partners in a bar or club. Just because someone goes to a bar doesnt mean they are an alcoholic or drunk.

Is it a cultural thing Ship? It is the norm here to go to the pub at the weekend.

I believe most singles go out to dance or drink on the weekends! I am in these places almost every night because I am a karaoke junkie. I NEVER have more than i alcoholic drink. Drink Pepsi most of the night. But I am a tightly would person, who uses karaoke to unwind. I am not a bad person because I go out frequently. BTW....not a good person, either

Sober man in bar is more suspicious than drinking one. :)

But recently I drink water in bars.

I think it is a cultural thing.
I think it is much more accepted as okay in Ireland.

A modern bar as in most modern cities. Mary was there with her girlfriend, having drinks like everyone else there, as people do, during the olympics. Any excuse will do!

Me? Nah, I don't go to bars, but occasionally go to pubs, to listen to a live band playing. So guess I'm not looking for a prince! They would have too many airs and graces for my liking!!! laugh
