I must say you are not too compelling on the persuasion or argument front.. I think even if I was an Athiest Mike HD would have converted me to Christianity long before you would have suceeded in affirming my views...

Apart from quoting other sources.. what concrete or indeed even vaguely convincing theories.. scientific or philosophical or otherwise can you contribute confused

this gawd could only (if he used terms at all) say ... "be unstraight like me".. to say "be straight like me" would be a contradiction, indeed a non sequitur of his own unstraightedness.

hence unstraightedness is the way of gawd.

That seems like an awfully roundabout way of calling God "gay," Al.confused dunno I hope you're not suggesting we start a thread on His omnipotent Gayness or something....?D'oh!

his omni-impotency is largely a question of theorists.laugh

though my guess is that he/she is somewhat androgenous, a more efficient way of dealing with the subtleties of nature. and we must expect ( if we are to have expectations at all) him/her to be efficient yes?

I believe there is a "GOD" but i cant stand any form of organised religion.. i pray to god when it suits me and he listens when it suits him/her.

Why is it that Priests,Preachers can tell you all about "hell" but tell you nothing about "heaven" except to say you'll sing with the angels etc...
I hope God lives in hell cos its a hell of a lot more fun there and its always warm

Hi, Hon!hug wave

Could you point me to that explanation (I'm thinking of what Jesus himself is supposed to have said, rather than the latter Pauline interpretations)? All I'm aware of Jesus saying is (to paraphrase) that he was not there to rebut the old prophets or to change even one "jot and tissel" of their words (I believe I'm recalling those words correctly).

"The Scripture cannot be broken" (John 10:35).

its only a 'burden' when you expect others to use 'only' the tools of logic, soley because you are the one acccustomed to using them.

perhaps there are other tools? dunno

Awwwww...

It's OK Crotalus. I will not try to embarrass you here.

Since your strategy seems to be arguing against something before you even hear it, I will not waste your time. Your mind is already made up.

I know you think you have hear it all, but we all know that hearing is not the same as listening.

To listen is not the same as being convinced. You don't have to be afraid to listen. It really won't hurt you. And by listening you can develop a more creative answer. Bnatural listens. I know he mostly listens to tear my argument to pieces, but he listens. And in doing so, he is so much fun to debate.

So I can only leave you with this...

"Then he said, 'I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house, 'for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.' "Abraham said to him, 'They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.' "And he said, 'No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.' "But he said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.'" Luke 16: 27-31 (sorry if my misplaced quotation marks are confusing, still studying the english language)

Bnatural loves when I quote the Bible.

innocent I agree... except that you're speaking of him/her in the past tense (was) and reasonable offerings of gawd include that he/she is omnipresent and so much more than just past tense. scold

Everything that happened was meant to happen and everything that will happen is equally a part of Gods overall plan... so I am not saying that Jesus was saying that previous rules etc were all wrong.. they were right for the time and the context that they were in.. just that the Coming of Jesus.. marked a new era a new beginning so to speak... am in the middle of studying so hope can give a better answer later

Simply being condecending to posters does not make you a convincing advocate for the cause of substantiating the origins of your beliefs (or lack thereof)... as I said if I were an Athiest or on the fence not knowing what way to go.. I would have jumped over to the HD side of the fence.. purely because he appears to have some thoughts of his own, and he presents some convincing points.. while it may not be your task to 'prove' the existence of God 'technically'.. for the purpose purely of debate do you have anything at all??? to bring to the table apart from condecending remarks...

'linear' is thinking in logical steps, something scientists generally do.
