My own beliefs would deviate from the Buddha's teachigs a bit too, but not too much on some things, like detachment and his live and let live tenets.

Reincarnation is a whole different subject..........

detachment is good in my books, for viewing things impersonally so you can return with heart.

the live and lt live gives me probs in that everything stays the same if you buy into it. Its a tad paradoxical for me, because change is always the same ... hmmm just a diff chainsaw.

Do you mean it's only the same in that growing is a process of sameness? Isn't it true that from every cycle we grow? If we view the live and let live from a point of detachment we can watch ourselves and life and cycles evolve surely and cut down the jumping in moments to learn faster?

A bit like trusting in the process if we can see the process.........confused

A lot of people are worried about feeling used if they have sex with someone and then it doesnt work..

so maybe they wait till they know the person will hang around....

In the meantime this trust issue just has every one going around in ever increasing circles.....dunno

Not so much a time element...

but observation is important..

need to see a consistency in what they say and do.....

I follow the rule of...listen to the actions not the words...

doing this sure makes you see people in a different light from what they try to portray.....

wave

indeed, but attending to learning aspects only, obfuscates the other point of life, experiencing it.

dunno

I dont think budhha intended anything but some sort of balance between the two and operationaly, live and let live, only works in purity on a spiritual level. We can use it at times in experience but by and large we have an innate need to change our reality through experience, so live and let live becomes a road block to change we want to see.

I would be remiss if I didnt assert that it is still our perception no matter what. What ever change we wish to indulge in contradicts live and let live. Our need to experience life through repitition or change is still at the center, the driving force of living.

Balancing the two might make both more rewarding?

I agree consistency and observation would be a good way to go.

I have found personally that consistency can be hidden in months of dishonest bahaviour though, before the reality of the person is revealed. I'm not so good at the observaion in that context. It does engender trust, but the trust is misplaced.

I think there is an element of, if you are a certain way in your character, it is easier to see those elements in others, but if you are different to them, then you don't see it comming when they behave outside of your experience, and so trust is broken or has been misplaced.wine
