Beware of scammers form Ghana or Nigeria area, I guess they call them 4:19ers cause that's when they usually come on in the morning (AM) over there. I had a woman contact me DIRECTLY on my Yahoo IM without her ever talking to me or viewing me that I could see on connecting singles, but I was curious. Her screen name was Sweet ForYou and she gave me the name Joyce Aidoo 25 yr old from Ghana and that she was looking for marriage. She told me she found me here while her friend, Sweetfor80 was on, but I checked it and it didn't exist. She gave me a bunch of photos and continuously asked me for my phone number, which I stupidly gave her but no other information or money. She has called me the last two nights atleast 2-3x each one in the 3-6AM range so I just don't pic up. I haven't answered yet and hope this stops soon. I was done talking to her after 2 days on IM when I found a similar forum online I knew it was a scam, but it must be a new scammer sn.

I had one scammer in past contact me on the website but I thought this case was very unusual because they contacted me straight through my Yahoo IM. I guess they tend to contact you on Yahoo IM too. I saved a photo she gave me in a white outfit with grey background that I believe says MJB Photo in the top left as well as two beach photos I did not save where she had braids. If anyone needs more proof who might run into her let me know, scary stuff not cool.

I too was contacted by two fraudulent profiles from Ghana and one from Nigeria. One of them even tried to get me to send her a digital camera. Fortunately for me all three instances were in the same night so I knew it was a scam. They also got in contact with me through Yahoo IM. I played along as much as I could and got an address where she wanted me to send it. If you have any ideas of where to report this I would appreciate it. If you or anyone else has any more information on these scams maybe we can do something about it. It would be unfortunate if someone fell for this. Peace and God bless!!!

No, they call them 419's because that is the police code for the "advance fee scam" Sort of like 420 is the code for pot over here.

BTW, your 25 YO lady is probably unaware her picture is being used by some man in an internet cafe with 15 other guys scamming lonely men all over the world. You dodged a bullet.

I have never been contacted via my private IM. If I did, I would just delete it and not respond.....

Perhaps I am not the type they are interested in targetting??

WOW, long detailed story you write, why did you waste your time on that? the only part that is real is that someone contacted you and wants to scam you.

all other info is not real, it may not be a woman, or in Africa, the pics are not of her, just a model they copied off the net.

what gets me is that you fell for this before, yet gave your phone number.

Romance takes time and trust. A scammer will not waste 2 weeks on someone that won't give out personal info....your name, where you live, phone number, bank and credit card info.

hackers used to be able(maybe still can) to get into your computer though IM programs, they then look for credit card info, bank account numbers. Immediately block anyone that you don't know that pops up out of nowhere.

I don't use my computer to access my bank account. I only use my credit card on known safe sites and in secure mode- httpS:// not- http:// then after, I immediately "clear private data" (under "tools" on the Firefox browser" then delete cookies (tools, options, delete all cookies) I also clear my browsing history( press- ctrl, H)

scammers will want you to pay to fly them to see you, or want you to fly to them. All setups to separate you from your money. Lets say you fly to Russia to meet beautiful "Ekatrina of Great" you get there take the taxi to some remote area, you will most likely be robbed of your money, credit cars, fancy laptop and possibly your shoes. Stick to women in you own country or adjoining ones.

If she (if scammer, could be a he as well) phones you, she already invested money in contacting you! And when it is 4 am at your time, it's about 11 pm at Ghana! ever thought of that?

And even there are many scammers, but there are also serious once! To find them, here is my advice:

Tell her you want to see her on cam.

Forget pictures, chat or letters or whatever. Make sure that sh'e is real, ask her questions and whatch the reaction. If she doesn't have a cam, there are internet cafes who offering this.

Tell her you want to send a box of money, not wire it, when you get an address to mail it too, shit in the box and send it off.

I have never come across scammers, but I could spot one a mile off if one contacted me.

I find it hard to believe that people fall for this.
