This is a fun thread, interesting seeing what people do besides blather away on here.

I'm an optician, which is just a fancy way of saying I sell glasses, contacts, etc. at a retail chain. Really there's more to it than that, but that's the company's bottom line. I really like it, I like interacting with patients/customers. Sometimes I even get to know more about them than what they need in eyewear. Since I work evenings when it's not busy usually I can spend time chatting with folks, get to hold babies sometimes while mom tries on glasses, stuff like that, it's loads of fun till you get an @$$hole, but I can usually handle them. I just have to remember it's not me they're pi$$ed at.

Isn't it stressful to write anything because people will look for errors?

haha no you missed it.

I work in care, I do the personal care for people that come out of hospitals and hospices that are terminally ill and want to stay at home. Washing and changing.. hoisting repositioning.. Catheter bags, Colostomy bags. PEG (stomach tube) feeds..making them more comfortable in final days care.. that kind of thing. Also people with mental of physical disabilities. Dwarfism, Alzheimers, Parkinsons, HIV, Amputees.. different Cancers.. all sorts of things. It's a very humbling and enlightening job.. It makes me very grateful for what I do have.

I've been doing it for almost eight years now. Sometimes I work in the agency office too doing the contracts and client care packages.. Because I used to be the assistant manager but had to stop when I kicked out my husband and lost my mum in the same week and had no one to help me with the children... so I still help out here and there too.

So I do some work in the community some in the office and some I can do at home. It was the only way I could fit it around my children and still keep my job.
