Heat a home???????? My heatpump has a gas heater and hot water heater is gas. Last winter my highest gas bill was $38.00. Now electricity to run the A/C this time of year is another story..crying

All my utilities are included in my rent, so hopefully I won't have any worries about it.

I'm thinking about it, since I may be moving into a new house that will need heating/cooling upgrades. I have propane where I live now, would there too if I go gas, but thinking of a heat pump. Last year I ran out of gas just before the end of winter and just used electric space heaters the last month or two, and with the price of gas now electricity wasn't any more expensive than buying gas.

If you do decide to go with the pellet stove, make sure that the outfit you buy the stove from will store the bags for you and make sure you order enough to last the whole winter. Around here, people with pellet stoves were begging for bags because they didn't order enough & there was a shortage of pellets since construction had slowed down.

Although I live in the same state as Robert, I'm in the north end of the state and heat is necessary....lol This past winter I broke out an extra electric blanket & sat under it in the evenings (electricty is cheaper than gas since Redding has it's own electric utility). I'll probably be doing the same this year since I replaced some windows this year. Next year though I'll be able to get a wood stove insert, I really only need to heat the living room (I prefer the bedroom cooler when I go to bed).

hiiii assets!wave

if i were gonna be living here i would be concerned as this house uses propane-they havent allowed natural gas into the area yet...

i have neighbors that have forced air heat and burn all sorts of stuff-guess it depends on the layout of the housedunno

my house is old no real insulation but i am gonna spray the attic floor w/ some for the buyer - pickyyyylaugh

My house is new and well insulated but I don't have a chimney. If I had the money to have one put in or buy a pellet stove, I would be able to pay for my oil.

It will cost me $1000 for a tank of oil every 3 months. I have a hard enough time coming up with that much every six months for my taxes.

Then if you have forced air heat guess you'll be using that. Or just get a space heater. If you don't have pets or small kids around one of those radiant dish types heat up pretty good. I did buy one that "looks" like a wood stove, but it's electric.

Or you can go the electric blanket route...lol

if it gets too cold, you can come down to NJ, sweetie. It won't feel like FL but it may be considerably warmer than your neck of the woods. Besides, I won't charge you for heat or any thing else, for that matterlaugh
