I haven't got that problem I do take initiative, but guys feel intimidated on their manlyhood when you ask them on a date and insist on paying etc. (the person who invites, pays... In my world at least).

Jeez. Men!

English is not my native language, and the first time a guy asked me why on Earth I could still be single I misunderstood it as an insult and slapped him across the face.

He just stared at me like I was crazy and then explained the true meaning. I felt obliged to buy him a milkshake as an apology (and frankly, I didn't know a lot about America and was afraid I would get sued if I didn't show some good will).

I'm still not totally convinced about the true meaning of it. laugh

Anyhooo.. it's more of a compliment than anything. It means they think you are a 'good catch'.. and how could not possibly have been snapped up by now.

In Denmark it's an insult - but we use sarcasm a lot too, so most compliments can actually be hidden insults as well. rolling eyes
