This is the worst feeling one can have???? I hate to say, but it could be a bit worse.

Call some other institutions, some may have experienced profesionals that will write off part of the cost and or take payments based on income.

Your daughter is an adult, she is now in control of and responcible for her life. You have responcibilitys and one of them is to let her live her own life. If you allways solve your childrens problems then they will be helpless after you are gone.

I agree to a point but we are talking about helping her fix tooth not bailing her out of Jail.

As a parent of course you want to help your kids when they are hurt or lacking confidence.

I do agree with helping ones children, how can one not. But a parent must stop breast feeding at sometime.

A parents responibility is to prepare a child for the life that is in front of them and provide for them wile they can not provide for themself.
My point is that if they never learn to provide for themself then who will provide for their children?

I'm distrested that this is concidered the worst thing ever. To me that saids bad things.

My daughter, just out of college and struggling, broke a tooth yesterday. It needs a crown, $1200.00. She can't afford it, nor can I. I feel so devastated and ashamed, that my life ended up at this situation, where I can't help out my daughter for such a basic need. The best I could do was call the University of Toronto, their dentistry students need people to practice on. They can do the job for half the price.

I'm sure that there are others on this site that share my frustration. I feel so bad.
Hey Paws glad to see u back.Dont feel bad a lot of us are in that shape financially right now.comfort

I believe that the UK has free dentistry. Canada has universal health care (free) but a tooth filling here will cost you up to $200.00. Why ?

we have selected free treatment , a consultation costs £60 but a tooth being pulled costs £16 ,silly i think . the free treatments are very limited as is the NHS ,basically it covers emergencies but nothing more .

im sorry about your lass ,and hope it works out bouquet of flowers

I know how you feel dear. I have no health care for myself and my boys. I checked it out. The cheapest I can find is $1800 a month. If I could pay that I could cover the doc bills.

My son broke his foot jumping long jump. It cost $65 just to walk into the doc's office. I owe this lady over $1000 still, and I have been making payments weekly since June.

To make matters worse. My son lost his full ride scholarship to USC because of the break.

So needless to say I know exactly how helpless you feel. I wish you and your daughter all the best. I am sure they will do a good job at the university.

I appoligise for sounding uncaring, I do care.
The title of this thread left me expecting somthing extreme. I have been threw a lot and others have been threw much worse than me.
There was a local family that was murdered in a very brutal way by thiefs, the family was bound and their throats slit in front of each other. This is what I concider the the worst thing. A broken tooth is a few steps down JMO.

I'm just stuck on 'the worst thing'. ,,,,,I'll get over it , I do wish you well and believe the answer to 'can't' is 'how we can' .

As I said, how can one not. I did intend that to mean that they are your children no matter the age. I also intended to imply that a parent should not let the child take advantage of them.

Toothaches and various other growing pains - theres nothing can compare to having a fully grown child die, one who you have come to know as a person in her own right and as an adult and love her in the special way that only a mum can - that really is pain......

I do not know how serious you are in your question but free healthcare is not coming to the US. The drug and health companys have billions of dollars at stake and have been entrenched in politics for an excess of fifty years. Wile every other stock is plumeting healthcare and drugs are still rising. but this is a topic for another thread.

I was not trying to be literal, though I have heard of a mom still nursing a seven year old. I'm just saying that mom bird has to push them out of the nest and let them fly.
