I dunno Claire, maybe I was misinformed! I do know that my wimpy son hid a tattoo from me when he was about 16. It was supposed to have been all around his upper arm, but he had to ask the tattooist to stop halfway because it was too painful!

oh i was kidding, it was a joke i heard at work...lol

anyway, found this with google.....

Why are lower back and tail bone tattoo designs so popular?
Simply put, they are sexy fun and cute. The beautiful curves and graceful feminine shapes of a woman's body all seem to converge in the lower back. Like a signature on a exquisite violin, a tail bone tattoo design becomes a beautiful adornment on any girls body. Often a lower back design will be specially shaped to accentuate and flatter the hourglass shape of the female form. Whether you are picture a tattoo design of an angel, sun, butterfly or dolphin the lower back can be the perfect spot. You might want a large tribal design or a small flower design with lots of color. Either way you can get a beautiful tattoo that you will be free to enjoy for a lifetime.

The Symbolism and Meaning of some popular lower back and tail bone tattoo designs.

If you are like most of us, each tattoo design you have indelibly inked into your skin has a particular meaning to you and often carries with it specific symbolism that makes a very personal statement about your world. Sometimes a bird tattoo design or a lotus a lotus is chosen for the sake of symmetry or color. Other times the choice of a lower back or tail bone tattoo design is based on the deeper meaning and symbolism of an image.

so again, its personal reason ("statement about your world") rather than a "tramp stamp"

I happen to think these so-called "tramp stamps" are not only incredibly sexy, but also quite classy. No one should be made afraid to express themselves through body art.

And for all you enthusiasts of the term "tramp stamp", once again I urge you to grow up and join the 21st century.

Oddly enough - I've always been indifferent to them. I don't judge the person that has, or for that matter, doesn't have, them. smoking

awwww - who said 'tramp stamp' - thats the last thing my daughter is hahahahaha - she is amazingly beautiful and moves about with a crowd of snobs who I personally wouldnt wipe my bum on - they alll think they are great cos they are able to capitalise on others efforts and the sooner she gets away from those people, the sooner I will be happy for her ..............

but, tramp stamp - hahaha, how bloody judgmental - these youngsters agree to these things before they have half an inkling of what life has to offer - I think totoos show their best face in the replies of the people who have them when questioned teddy bear
