Serenity1971: Why is it that there are times when we set boundaries with people in our lives and they don't respect those boundaries?
I guess I'm just curious to find out what others experiences have been with this. Maybe it's just me
We can't set boundaries for others, boundaries are for ourselves, what we will or will not allow in our own lives. We can't force another to respect them, we just have to decide what consequences we're willing to allow to keep the boundaries we set.
Boundaries keep us from getting so enmeshed with another that we don't know where their feelings start and ours end, when they're having a bad day, it makes our day bad. Boundaries aren't walls, they can be flexible, movable. They can be bridges, but they keep us whole separate individuals in ourselves.
