Note to self - start a card file!! All kidding aside, half the fun of talking to other people is finding out what their all about. When I filled out my profile, I was clueless as to how to answer some of those questions. What if the question is meaningless to you? You still have to answer it. Think you have to take the profiles with a little imagination, know what I mean?

I am one of the few that reads all of the profiles before I write to a gal....

But then again.. I also read Stephen King books

questions as honestly as you can.
Some of us are more capable then others to put their feeling down.
This had never been my problem.
I reveal to easy all about myself.

Mine's not. I don't think many are that dishonest. So far, those local that I have met on sites have been what their profile states...just hasn't worked for other reasons. (One became a friend, though.)

That's true for guys too...I've met a couple that looked great in their pics, but were barely recognizable in person! Looks, or lack of them, not being why some of those haven't worked out, either. One insisted on mauling me from the beginning...was just too "touchy-feely", and so that was a bust. (Yes, for some strange reason, I find being mauled on the first date offensive...go figure? )

I read profiles constantly, But put little stock in them and it a shame for the ones that are honest.

I have met some from the web and unfortunately, almost everything they wrote was bull and even the pictures were 10+ years old.. when they were younger and fresher so to speak.... not very honest way of getting to know people.

Ship posted his pic for a few days. He was surprisingly attractive as opposed to what he'd have you believe by reading his profile.

My pics are brand new and my profile is honest but I've been online for 15 years (with bathroom breaks) and I know that as far as a dating site its only good for making contact just like you do in person where you see someone and speak a few words (as I did this morning while picking up a part at the car dealer) and then you really have to meet in person and get to know the person. There's nothing magical about being online that you don't have to do the work that you do in person. The internet is good for making contact with way more people than you do in daily life but that's it. So I don't write long essays-just some basics about myself and the person can decide if he thinks I'm worth getting to know more. Same thing when I read profiles I just want a little information and I have a fairly good idea from that. Some of my longest and best friendships/relationships were with people I might not have thought I'd enjoy.

I agree with you there Lacali, I intentionally leave my profile devoid of information. Just a bit of humor to show my personality and that's it.

Nothing to fill the blanks in between, if I want to know someone, or if someone wants to know me, we can do the work together.

You can get to know a lot about people by being observant here on this forum.
The way people react and interact with others.

i think most of us look at the picture first,then read the profile last!!

as for me i look to see if they smoke or drink, if it say's smoke !never !
i pass them up, because most us do smoke

I read the whole profile. if I dont like the pic (say they have a cigarette pressed between their lips on the default profile pic) i don't even bother clicking on the profile. But If I do happen to click on it, i read the whole thing.

of course the photo attract me because first becaose the photo is what you see. you click the photo to get to the profile so it make sense. but if a woman not have a nice photo then is a good chance i will not be curius to go to her profile to read.
i dont care how a woman face look as long she not hideous i just like to see what kind body she got and then the profile to see if she open minded ladie and what activity she like doing. sex is imporant, then i like see what kind man she intrested in.
