I ask a lot of questions. Why did they choose to meet me in particular, do they work, what is that like, attitudes to life, what are their interests, what makes them laugh, do they have things they don't like to talk about, why, attitudes to romance, type of relationship they are looking for, do they have any taboos about life, politics, religion, sex, what were past relatioships like, why are they alone now, then maybe innane chat until I make up my mind if I want to know more......

So predominantely we would chat about him...with interjections from me to sympathise, empathise, agree or disagree, or maybe just smile or nod assent showing interest.

All this , not becaue I am really interested in hearing what he has to say, but to guage reactions......

Reactions tell more than words...
