gillyloves69: whats he like then ?

I wish I knew. I know one thing though. I'll never be like him. You see, even thought he was around he taught me something very valuable. Let your children and wife know everyday that you love them. Can't hate a man for teaching me that.

Anyway he wanted to go home at 5pm but i refused and insisted on carruy on playing in the park, so my brother went home and left me in the parl playing by myself !

my father gave him a good beating for leaving me in the park.

his speech was

" THE TWO YOU LEAVE THIS TOGETHER ...AND THE TWO OF YOU COME BACK TO THIS HOUSE TOGETHER "

my dad mum and brother then came over to the park to get me ...and its one thing that was never forgotten as children

Now THAT is the start of a conversation! wave

gillyloves69: hi dawn ! what patterns was he repeating then ?
\
Hi Dilly love the do. Looks great on you.
He was repeating the violence and abuse that he witnessed from his father. They were from the hills of Arkansas or what is known as hillbillies and they were quite a bit Native American although it was hushed up. Very poor and had to work quite hard to make ends meet.
My dads father was pretty violent and mean and they did at the time anyway tend to treat their hound dogs better than their women. So my dad although he was in the Northern US from an early age picked up those patterns of abuse, alcoholism and violence. Sad part is that my dad was meanest when he was sober.

It's a good conversation. Frankly it's a hard one and brings up memories that I would rather forget but it's all part of healing and although I don't like to see that some of the rest of you have gone through pain. I can empathize with you and hopefully learn. Bless the rest of you who love your parents and were blessed with a good childhood. No family is perfect we are all messed up but at the same time precious beings who do not live our lives out in perfection. lol
Therefore all these pains and heartaches that hopefully can be turned into some of our greatest strengths in exhibiting true kindness and compassion to others who are experiencing the same thing.

head banger

but when people try and groom you into their way of thinking and you don't like their way of thinking it then becomes a problem

dunno

i wonder how the hound dogs got treated ?

laugh

gillyloves69 london, Inner London, England UK
Hugz_n_Kissez: He went from being physically abusive to my mother and verbally abusive to us kids....to just being verbally abusive...well when I grew up that was not acceptable to me and he started it with my kids....I stood up to him and he didn't like it...but that was too bad...I don't take that crap from nobody....he never got help for what really made him abusive just quit drinking that was it...so of course he never admitted responsibility either...so I just distanced myself and we get along better that way.... Oh forgot to say....

moping

how old were you when your father stopped drinking hugz ?
