Well, I don't know about the movie. A little bit of a disappointment for me. I mean, the acting and cinematography was great, but the story line was disappointing for me.
As far as I could see it was all about an asshole who never grew up ever. The only reason he became anything at all was because of the woman who fell in love with him. He appeared to be totally self-centered throughout the whole thing never wising up. He turned his back on his wife, and ended up stupidly killing two innocent young girls because of his immature arrogance.
The problem I have with this is that I can see this kind of crap everyday in the real world. Sheesh, when I watch a movie I'd like to see something a little different. Why bother watching a movie if it's just going to depict everything you see around you all the time?
I'm kind of surprised that both Joanie and Marina raved about this movie as being so great. I just don't see what's so great about it. All I can say is that I'm glad I got it from the library for free, because I'd really be upset if I had actually paid money to see it.
Sorry ladies but that's my reaction.
I like "A Beautiful Mind" because at least the guy loved his wife and worked hard to improve himself over the course of his life. He also recognized her for standing by him through thick and thin. Pollock on the other hand was a self-cented arrogant idiot the whole way through the movie and didn't even have a disease to blame, unless you want call alcoholism a disease, but he certainly didn't seem to be putting forth much effort to fight it.
So I'm afraid I have to give Pollock a thumbs down.
I might also add, that I don't mind movies that have sad endings, but I like to at least see a story about someone who's trying to better themselves. At least if they fail you can feel bad for them. The only think I felt about Pollock is, "What an asshole!"
God, I'd give anything to have a woman like his wife standing by me!!!
I'd really appreciate her! And I'd SHOW it!
