Time out...to me spanking teaches fear and nothing else...and advocates violence as a way to solve problems when you do something wrong.....professor

When I was little we were switched or belted (or what ever was handy -ed). Didn't teach us fear; it taught us to behave and do as we were told. Only teaches fear when it's the only way you correct a kid.

I see nothing wrong with spanking as long as there is a d@mn good reason. Putting gum in your sisters hair, NOT.

However, it also depends on the child and the situation. I was rather calm as a kid, so not many spankings, though the evil eye tended to work on me quite well. grin

Oh I love the smacking children threads.

So, tell me, pro spanking peeps, how is it ok to be convicted of assault if a person hits an adult, but not a child?

I have never raised a hand to my children, I have ticked them off, I have talked to them, being hit instills fear, how does violence resolve anything?

anything else....time out, heart-to-heart talk, extra chores, etc......




To use spanking all the time is silly and ignorant. I think it shows a lack of self control of the parents.
