I have to say I'm a traditional girl...I would prefer the man asked me, but only after we had lived together for awhile and it had been discussed that we were both ready....when I marry, I want it to be the only time....hope that is what will happen, anyway...
was kinda hopin you'd ask me... but if you insist....blushing

It has always been the traditional role for men to do the asking...so
how do the men here feel about women being the ones to ask now?
I Would Diffently Agree To This Question,Yes For Sure,No holding Back,Yes I agree with this Question,I don't see anything wrong but how would she carry across the Thres-Hold,I mean if she could I say For Sure,Then thro me on the bed and have her way with me!!!!!!!!!!

Hhm.. I'm not really sure about me asking a guy ... I guess I'm just more comfortable with the notion of the traditional custom. I've been engaged twice but that's as far I as seem to make it. As I reflect on my past, I probably should have said no at the time as I've come to learn that rushing into something just because it "feels right and I'm in love".... is not the basis of a strong marriage. I wish I knew then what I know now... and I'll probably say the same thing at 80 too. When I meet the man that I think would be a good match... I'll have to give this some thought... because I'm not rushing into anything.

I think that education needs to focus on teaching people healthy skills (ie. parenting classes, relationship classes, emotionally wellbeing, etc.... things along that line)..... teaching some geography and history can be beneficial... but this doesn't prepare you for developing a healthy relationship and being a great parent. Our views of life and traditions are so narrow, I think that exploring other cultures and beliefs have to be considered as well.

Jason ...truthfully I've been asked only twice seriously... and actually lots of other times not so seriously (internet proposals probably at least one a week)... but it doesn't matter how many times because in truth I would love to get married once and that it will last until the end of my days.

My heart is open to the possibility of finding love, its just a matter of finding someone who would like to share their life with me.

Here in America we have an event called "Sadie Hawkins" day, or some even subscribe to "Sadie Hawkins" month, which is the month of November. November 15, btw, is Sadie Hawkins day.

That is a traditional time for women to approach men with proposals of marriage.

It has a funny history behind it, too.

If a woman asked me to marry her and we were serious enough and had been together enough I would be flattered and accept readily. I've always accepted women as equals(yeah right-like they're not superior!!LOL).
