Forget learning another language,I HAVE A hard enough time understanding other peoples English sometimes.
Apart from the bricks,I just got a part time gig doing maintenance, plastering, painting, repairs in a HOSTEL on week-ends,and I MET few tourists from WALES and England that I find hard to understand, and the owner of the HOSTEL,a woman originally from AUSTRALIA(lovely lady),,,,,,I really have a hard time understanding her ENGLISH,so I JUST SMILE and nod my head.

She appreciates my work....that's what's important to me,and as long as I GET MY PAYCHECK EVERY WEEK....I'll keep smiling and nodding my head.

I'm outta here.

My home language is Afrikaans. It is difficult to learn as the tenses are directly the opposite of English.

I am learning Spanish, but for no specific reason.

Just some useless statistics (as at Jan 2008)

Yes, I would. But then, I have already learned 4 other languages in my life, 3 of them spoken ones. (The other is American Sign Language.)

Bineinteles!

This means “of course” in her language, even though our language together is English. But for the sake of family, friends and cultural understanding (and my own curiosity) I had to learn it.

Hell I can't speak or understand the one I have. So learning a new one is impossible for us southern redneck hicks from the south.

Yes I would. Given that I will meet with someone who is not native in Swabian (my mother tongue) then I would learn his/her language.
By learning her language I would show an interest in her, her culture and her peoples heritage.
Also she/he would not need to act as an interpreter everytime I visit her region.

What I know for sure is that I am not going to learn SwissGerman.
That dialect is nothing else but awful. dunno

I speak English,French, and ITALIAN.....it's enough for me,so I probably wouldn't be interested in learning another language at the moment...maybe later.
