If there is any truth to this at all, it heavily sways my vote to Democrat. I will not tolerate a religious extremist in office. I don't care what the religion is, religion and state must remain separate.

I can't believe anyone would dare stunt the cognitive advancement of our citizens and then have the tenacity to run for a major political office.

Besides, I've never been much for Republicans anyway. :P

Well it is true that as a Mayor she tried to vet a popular librarian in her town to see if she would be willing to ban books. It is also true she lept pushing her, fired her and then rehired her.

This is probably coming from Palins conservative Christian Evangelical background. She is so pro life that she doesn't believe in abortion for any reason not for rape or to save a womans life.

Oh! Please don't give us any real facts!!! That will destroy the rumor campaign and it's doing so well at the moment. Gads! I will research this tomorrow and get the truth. No way am I gullible enough to believe this crap.

If it does prove to be true, I will post that along with my apologies. But until then... this is sick, childish politics and of no benefit to anyone

I hope you guys use a different standard than we do. We don't elect thoughtful people, we elect folksy people who would make good drinking buddies.

Spaghetti: Hard to believe 1984 isn't on the list. Probably one of her favorites.

Hard to believe that the ultimate US fascist horror The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood wasn't on that list either...probably her second best favourite (Bet she watches it over and over like Nixon watched Patton...%D
People with warped minds like that need to be removed from any society.

It is a shame what Sarah Palin is doing, banning such classic books.

There was never any kind of list, the Anchorage Daily News says so!

This is a list of books, most of which have been banned in the U.S. at some point in time.

Read Snopes and see the full story.thumbs up

WhatUwish4: I find this impossible to believe and would like to challenge this claim. This smacks of a typical rumor campaign. Sorry. Don't trust everything you read.

I agree. I think the list is probably bogus. But DON'T TRUST EVERYTHING YOU READ would be a good motto for supporters of both sides in this election. Much of the stuff about Obama is rubbish too. Remember the Swift Boat defamation of Kerry last time around?

wave Hi crotalus!

I commented to the other thread concerning this subject of banning books. You can read it on that thread.

Palin never stated she wanted to ban any books. She had a discussion with a department head. It was a question she was to ask. Just like employers ask employees if they would steal or soldiers are asked if they would shoot American citizens if asked to.

We don't know the conversation between the department head and Palin, to know why the question was asked. It does not in any way imply that Palin is for censorship of books. She only asked a question which was given to her to ask the librarian.
