Have you ever heard a song for the first time
that made you stop everything you were doing,
and listen. Do you remember it and what you
were doing?
I remember arriving at a friends house in my car
when Blue Monday by New Order came on the
radio. I was totally transfixed and had to listen
to the full track, much to the consternation of
my friend who had seen me arrive only to sit
in the car for the next ten minutes or so.

Any songs had this effect on you at first time of
hearing?

Funny you should bring this up. Just had it happen to me a week or so ago. Ever heard of Dave Barnes? I hadn't. Was checking out a site for the Rockford "On the Waterfront" festival and they had one of his songs playing as he was going to be there that weekend. Never heard of the guy before, but went and bought the album immediately. Great music, great voice. The song that really caught my ear was "Until You". Check out his web site and you can hear it there if you haven't already. Really beautiful.

Yes, was on the computer at work at my last job listening to stuff a friend had downloaded for me on my ipod, and found a song I'd never heard before..."When The Children Cry" by White Lion. Had to stop everything and listen. Good thing the boss wasn't around right then!

I once froze as i heard a guy make a dedication to his mother. The song was 'last night' by Az-yet.

I was cooking chips at the time. help

I've provided the lyrics below. uh oh!

"Last Night"

Last night you were so into it
You told me secrets that
You've never told a soul
You were so nervous and
yet oh so comfortable
As we explored your image of love
I drank your wine
As you taste mine
I kissed your lips
You felt my body slip
Into your soul
I almost cried 'cause it was so beautiful

[Chorus:]
Last night
I was inside of you
Last night
While making love to you
I saw the sun , the moon
The mountains and the rivers
I saw heaven when I made sweet love to you

Last night, there was no planning it
It was so special and
So very innocent
We talked of memories
Our favorite fantasies
As we explored our visions of love
Deep in the night
Right by the fireside
You felt my candlelight
In your soul
You felt incredible
I started to explode
I almost cried 'cause it was so beautiful

[Chorus]

Sunlight, red roses
The scent of you, it calms the heart
The sight of you, I fall apart
Moonlight, the things we notice
When we're in love, that's when it comes
And I'm so in love, I'm so in love

yeah, my ipod was on random in april this while i was working in a factory stacking pallets for a flour company..

ANYWAYS, i was workin away and this song started.. but it didnt grip me straight away, it was only when the breakdown on a song called boneyards by parkway drive came on.. and i just stopped and listened, then rewound it back to that part about 4 times and then i got hit on the nose with a bottle from one of the other guys to get me back workin cause the slide where the flour came down had built up waaaay too much!

Isn't that something....

I have a Gordon Lightfoot song I love too and I don't hear it very often.

It's called "Approaching Lavender".

SORRY...

~BUCKCHERRY~

Oh I had a lot to say was thinking on my time away
I missed you and things weren’t the same
‘Cause everything inside it never comes out right
And when I see you cry it makes me wanna die.

I’m sorry I’m bad, I’m sorry you’re blue
I’m sorry about all the things I said to you
And I know I can’t take it back
I love how you kiss, I love all your sounds
And baby the way you make my world go ’round
And I just wanted to say I’m sorry

This time I think I’m to blame
It’s harder to get through the days
We get older and blame turns to shame
‘Cause everything inside it never comes out right
And when I see you cry it makes me wanna die

I’m sorry I’m bad, I’m sorry you’re blue
I’m sorry about all the things I said to you
And I know I can’t take it back
I love how you kiss, I love all your sounds
And baby the way you make my world go ’round
And I just wanted to say I’m sorry

Every single day I think about how we came all this way
The sleepless nights and the tears you cried
It’s never too late to make it right
Oh yeah sorry

I’m sorry I’m bad, I’m sorry you’re blue
I’m sorry about all the things I said to you
And I know I can’t take it back
I love how you kiss, I love all your sounds
And baby the way you make my world go ’round
And I just wanted to say I’m sorry

I’m sorry baby.
I’m sorry baby, Yeah.
I’m sorry

"Superstition" by Stevie Wonder I was transfixed first time I heard it. The man is a genious.

"Reach out" by the Four Tops. I actually heard this performed first by a band from Baltimore at a Holiday Inn one night and I was so blown away by it I kept saying "damn those guys are GOOD they should cut a record".

"25 or 6 to 4" by Chicago, Had to get the 45 immediately. I still have it.

"Siute Judy Blue Eyes" by Crosby Stills Nash & Young.

Don't laugh but "And I Love You So" by Perry Como.

I put on my radio a few years ago, realized it wasn't on the station I wanted, and walked towards it to change to the station I did want. The song playing made me freeze and I was totally entranced by it. I didn't recognize the voice so started writing down odd bits of lyric in case the DJ didn't announce who it was at the end.
It was "My Confession" by Josh Groban. The most beautiful and haunting song I have ever heard, still sends shivers down my spine as much now as when I first heard it.

'It's Bad, You Know'........R. L. Burnside.........Love that mix of jazz/rythm n blues with a little cajun twist. Something about that song makes me wanna dance like I've never danced before! First time I heard it I was downloading the theme song from the 'Sopranos' on Limewire. rolling on the floor laughing

Other than that......and don't laugh......I could listen to 'Celtic Women' non-stop for hours......maybe even days. If angels have voices, surely they must be modeled after them. angel

I have to agree...I love Carly Simon!

So far, the ones I recognize are all beautiful choices that I have to admit touched me the first time I heard them, too...the others would if I heard them, I'm sure.
