Ambrose2007: Would you mind giving an example of telling the truth when it backfired (or caused a problem in a relationship), Anna?

Hi Ambrose. I don't think it would be very fair of me and to the other party involved and who's also a member here cause they're not here to defend themselves because you'd only hear one side of the story.

somechick: Do you think you should always tell someone the truth even if it may hurt their feelings and there's the chance they may get upset with you?

Especially when/ if they say they'e a big woman/man and they can handle the truth. So you tell them the truth and they become mad anyway. It just seems to me to be a no win situation.

Well I always thought that if you and them are Real/True friends, and you both Really care about one another enough to be honest then why not be upward and straight forward and tell the ruth. They may not want to hear it, but if they are your real friend they will understand.

I think the truth is always the best...and the person can do with it as they wish...case in point...my brother was dating a married woman once...it was his best friends and boss's wife....it had been going on for some time...and he came and woke me up once at 4 am needing to talk and asked me what I thought...well I told him...and it wasn't what he wanted to hear...but it was the truth the way I saw the situation...after that he wouldn't talk to me much...but I asked him that night because he was getting upset at some of the things I had to say...if he asked me because he wanted the truth or he wanted me to tell him what he wanted to hear....what he was looking for was support and supporting words for a situation....I couldn't support and a woman who was playing with his feelings...so I told him just that..anyway...I will never tell someone something that I think they want to hear...that's not me...I will always be honest about the way I see things and those who know me know that...so I suggest..if you don't want an honest opinion...don't ask me!!!!

It's over, it's done with cause I'm going on with my life. I can't afford to miss out on what lies ahead of me.

I have to think about me first and foremost and what makes me happy.

Noone else is responsible for my happiness cause that's something I have to do on my own.

I'm the very same way Shelly. If someone doesn't want to hear the truth then don't waste my time asking me in the first place.

I would much rather hear the truth then a lie. My feelings may get hurt but I wil survive the truth.

Yes...I respect someone much more for telling me the truth than I do for lying to me trying not to hurt my feelings or whatever excuse they may have...they're my feelings and I can deal with them...what I can't deal with is someone lying to me!!!!!

There are those who can't deal with the truth but they sometimes want it anyway.

I gave up trying to figure people out anymore. It's way to confusing.

That comes 1st then you can be serious about meeting someone.

To take the truth is the simplest/easiest way but most of the human beings unfortunatelly choose the difficult way instead.
