X5323601: Linux is a multi-tasking operating system written in the programming languages C and assembler. It is very compact, fast and stable. The reason MS Windows is more popular is because of the 3rd party software available for it.

Want more?

thumbs up thumbs up thumbs up thumbs up

It also does not take up much hard drive space and is fairly straight forward. So you can use it fine on older computers.

It is sold ready loaded on some PC's such as Dell, in the UK as an alternative to either Mac or Microsoft, In the UK it is fast taking over from windows based machines, and is used in many business and government environments.
Most common software for MAC or Windows is now available in some form via the open source library.
Google is about to release a new OS to support its Chrome software, will be interesting to see how it goes.

I already read some news about Chrome test with Acer Notebook, in some test make with a seller of Acer in Japan, they show how install and run Chrome on a Dell Laptop... the news say Chrome take only 10 minutes to install and was stable even been a Beta version...

We will see what happen next...
