hollandgirl: If your pet needed a heart transplant would you do it?
Or any other big operation?
Some dogs have problems with their hips and it needs to be fixed.
Usual the larger dogs have this problem.
Pets today are getting better and faster care than do human beings, at least here in Canada.
Hospitals for animals are a gold mine for the vets.

I would do whatever I could to save or help mine. They are part of my family, and I am responsible for their well-being. It was the love contract I entered into when I adopted them. heart wings teddybear

If you can come up with the moola that is.
Just to say "goodmorning to my vet cost me at least 80-100 dollars
Yes I agree they gave us a lot of love and we should take care of them as best as we can.

I'm lucky. There's a vet in my area who will take care of the animals and let you make payment arrangements. He understands that it's expensive, and not everyone has the money to pay up front, but doesn't want their pet to die, either.

I would do whatever it took to come up with the money...just like I would for my children.heart wings

hollandgirl: No animals right now as I plan to travel.
My neighbour would take care of a cat for two weeks but
that is where she draws the line.

I agree but some animals would not be able to survive without the human beings to help them.
Yes this was not the original plan

The_Kansan: We are owned by several critters: 7 Banty Chickens - Alfred Ridgecock ('Alfie' our little rooster) and his harem (Lilly, Millie, Winter, Littlebit and the Twins) - Patty the Chihuahua, the Schnausers (Omar and Buddy), a cat named Atila and a Dog named Spartacus.

Oh, and who would be the DOG?? rolling on the floor laughing (since the Schnauzers and the Chi don't seem to count?! laugh )

Spartacus is a pitbull mix - he's just a big, goofy, over grown puppy - and seems to be the only one who actually realizes he's a dog. Of course it might be because he simply lacks the brain power to imitate humans, although he can do a pretty good imitation of a furry log...laugh
laugh I see. I just couldn't remember Jackson mentioning a beast like this, LOL.

OMG, how could Spartacus have EVER slipped my mind!?! doh laugh Perhaps because I have to overlook him (and step over him) when he's doing his fuzzy log imitation!

Give your "kids" a head-pat for me, Audry! Then give yourself a great big hug from here.

Oh, and BTW, looks like I'll have to instruct hubby on how to spell Schnauzers!! devil grin

Learning something every day. I never knew an animal could have epilepsy.

Not too worry about not answering right away. Were still here lol.
I have at times taken an animal from the shelters.
Anything better than buying one in the store as these come from puppy mills.
Many of these poor critters live a mirable life. sigh
