shipoker58: this thread has turned into nothing more than a hate filled shouting match. It is sad, that all the name calling is going on in here. Let me say this, then I'll shut up.Not all Christians demostrate at war heroes funerals and bomb abortion clinics.

Not all Muslims fly planes into office buildings. Can't we all just get along!!

You must be the hate to see other people hating each other party.

Shall we fight about it for the next 10 pages...........or maybe just have a beer?cheers

bodleing: Not sure I agree with that.

It seems to me that many Muslim extremists are the only
ones openly advocating the eradication of all 'Kafir's'
or infidels. I know they are in a minority, but this kind
of rhetoric can be heard all too often, and I might add
by an increasing number of young Muslims, in the Uk
at least.
In fairness, the Muslim community in the UK are trying
to suppress these outbursts, but nevertheless words
like these can only fuel the fires of bigotry and hatred.

When any religious group attempts to control or take over a government, it's dangerous for all others who don't believe the way they do. That's what the religious right in America is doing, and it should be fought against. Religion and politics should not mix.

Practice whatever religion you want at home, in church/mosque or any other assembly and in your heart, but it should never be madated as a way to rule an entire nation. That's oppression, and exactly what's happened in Iran after 1979 as well as other nations around the globe throughout history.
What difference is it if it's Islam, Judiaism or Christianity? dunno

Ship, don't get upset about this. This is a classic "fear-the-unknown" "fear-the-stranger""fear-the-foreigner" thread. I don't see any minds changed in here as a result of what has been said. If people want to have those attitudes to Muslims or to foreigners then frankly they are going to keep them. The most obvious thing about that constituency is that they don't listen. It's pathetic but it's true.

jbibiza: Well I had a moment of revelation this morning... Which I will get to in a moment...

First off this was a very messy thread last night... that´s probably putting it mildly, and I was accused of a lot of things... of having a superior attitude of being insecure, of attacking people.

!. Feeling superior... I certainly hope that I have never portrayed that I thought I was better then anyone. While I have shared and taken pride in my achievements I have also been quick to share my moments of stupidity to the chuckles of quite a few of you and have no problem laughing at myself.

2. Being insecure... Well it´s just hard for me to reconcile the idea that I could "feel superior" to everyone and be insecure at the same time.... but I will admit that there are times I face insecurities... in reality I am quite a shy person and have battled that most of my life.

3. Attacking People... I can honestly say that I try to argue the post and not the person... but admit there have been occasions when something was said that really disgusted me... ideas of racism, extreme disrespect towards women that I probably did make a comment that was more personal then issue related, but I can honestly think of only 3 occasions where this has happened.

...and now I come to my moment of revelation...

To say that I was shocked at the personal attack on me last night doesn´t begin to say how I felt, and to be honest I really couldn´t understand it... this came from someone I didn´t know, that I didn´t think I had ever had any kind of contact with... but on reading the exchange between him and Sparky I realized that this was the man who posted the windup thread that was extremely disrespectful in attitude to both women and soldiers and yes I did say some pretty nasty things... but if you post a thread with the explicit purpose of pissing people off then I think you should be prepared for what ever responses you get... and they do say that humour often has a lot of truth to it.

On hind sight am I proud of the comments I made on that thread? No, I allowed someone to bring out the worst in me. Now that I realize the attack was made in response to what I posted on that thread and not a response to what was just a simple comment about not all Muslims being extremists it does make a bit more sense to me... but I still don´t see it as justified

If this person had something to say regarding my post on his windup thread then it should have been dealt with there... to lay in wait with the express purpose of attacking me on another thread I find to be cowardly at best, but if it made him feel better for having done it... then so be it. Thank you Luscious and Irishlass for the words of support and thank you to those who wrote to me with good advice and the hugs I needed... very much appreciated.

The one good thing that came of all this is that I do realize I have become far to serious and intense and I do miss some of the really good times I´ve had on CS that were filled with laughter and flirtation and so I will attempt to avoid "issues" and work on finding some good sexy funny things to start threads with.

Hope you are all having a good day and I wish you all the best.

Jacquie

I don't agree Jacquie......stay in the issues threads....say what you want and be proud of your independent opinions. Don't let ignorance get to you!!! comfort

I agree completely... and one of your country women wrote an amazing novel of what life might be like under a right wing Christian regime...

The book is The Handmaids Tale" the writer Margaret Atwood, a brilliant author and Canadian.

Calling me a hater, then offering a beer is not what I call good relations!!doh

My post was simply to say let's all get along!....then you satrted right in with the name calling.

This is a rhetoric post.

Anyone remember a groups we call neo-nazists?

They sometimes claim to be Christian (and sometimes they believe in our old gods).

Their signs are not very friendly when they are demonstrating, are they? They are our neighbours, colleagues and family. All of them (I have got at least three cousins who are openly members).

They have their own political parties and they reach high numbers in polls and elections.

These people are pro castration of other faiths and races, pro ethnic cleansing and pro a lot of other things. Many of them also deny that Second World War existed or at least did not have a lunatic causing the havoc in the first place.

They look like me, they sing the same Christmas songs as me, they have the same grandpa as me, but I still do not relate me with their cause. dunno

Following the alternative logic displayed often here, I AM one of them. I have no choice.

Am I?

Thanks for that Fallingman... and I guess there are two schools of thought on that...

Get right back on the horse... or

Fool me once, shame on you... fool me twice, shame on me (fool to be replaced with... hurt, attack, judge...)

Oh what a great time to insert a Bushism...laugh but I´ll let that go...

I don´t think I´ll ever be a shrinking violet... I feel to strongly about things to let everything pass, but I am realizing that I don´t really accomplish much by getting into these types of situations and in some cases it´s best just to ignore them.

I really do appreciate your words! hug

Well I am sorry you missed the irony that I meant. To say "I hate to see other people hating each other" is very different from saying "I hate that person for hating that other person".

Hate bores me to tears, so no I didn't call you "a hater", do excuse the fact we have missed each other in translation.
