Then they want to bitch to their friend and wish "If only I could meet a nice guy" Once this nice guy is found life becomes boring and they long for the challange of the asshole again. I think that, in general, women will unconsciously look for a protector, a provider. That is the first natural instinct. This translates into looking for a healthy looking male (tall, strong, broad shoulders, outspoken, etc.), and a male who shows the appearance of wealth (house, car, wealthy lifestyle). The bad boy that often attracts lots of women typically has a few of these traits (strong, outspoken, wealthy lifestyle).

Once you are aware of that mechanism, it might take a bit of effort for the woman to find out exactly what are the traits she would prefer to have in a mate.

Personally, I look for a healthy mate; someone who can communicate his emotions; someone who looks at you in the eyes when he is talking with you; a witty sense of humour, not mocking everybody; someone who will gladly treat me as an equal, a partner, a companion. Also I look for little indications like: someone who treats waitresses and clerks with respect; someone who has no problem sharing the remote; someone who is happy with the way they look. And I can't help it, I just love a romantic guy.

Contrary to the belief of many, women are not all the same and so what they are seeking will vary from woman to woman.
I would hope that the majority want a man whom they can respect. He wouldn't be a drunkard, he'd be much too clever to take up any unhealthy habits such as smoking and the like. He should be a leader who has found his way, is at peace with God and can either lead his interest toward the straight and narrow or help her to remain on that course.He should have a sense of humor and share that easily. He should be active whenever possible in the welfare and growth of his community;one who is obviously admired by his friends and neighbours.His parents would be very proud of hm. He should be a man with the power to immobilize a gossip's tongue with simply a disaproving cold gaze.He would be sincere, reliable and trustworthy and most women could find submitting their hearts to him an effortless task because he would never walk all over it.
Now I could continue but I've got to get on with the task of looking for that man.
