Gilly, the same God that you have, is the same God that Was, Is, and Forevermore. However, if the captors were idol worshippers then that was their gods, and if some of the captives were also idol worshippers then that was their gods. God takes the shape,image and colour and ethnicity of the person who is doing the worshipping. In other words, God is multicultural, and may be He/she.

This question you asked cannot be answered with a yes or no, because it is complex, it has a chance of alienatings others. I just want you to know that God is capable of being there and everywhere even when there is slavery, ethnic cleansing, genocide, homicide and mass destruction.

Yes there was a God, and He was biracial/multicultural, so he was worshipped by both black and white!

That's a question that no one knows the answer to except God. Maybe in the midst of destruction, famine and disater people will then seek God, and cry out to him.

slavery was only a small part of the civil War ,there were many reasons for the war. That is only the one that most folks wish to remember as it was a very dark time in our history(slavery I mean)
