Tess of the D'urbervilles ... the classic by Thomas hardy.

He had an insight into what many young women's lives would be like then and even now today... was Tess a victim of being born a female or a strong character/survivor who deserved her fate?!

Books are probably one of the greatest passions in my life... I have so many favorites and like so many different styles of literature....

The Glass Palace by Meenakshi Mukherjee, A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, Daughter of Fortune and House of Spirits are two of my favorite bookes by Isable Allende, but everything by her is fantastic... Also everything by Elmore Leanord, best known for Be Cool and Get Shorty which were both made into films... Carl Hyacinth and Ben Elton, both masters of dark comedy... all the tales of Arthur, Tolkien, and Stephen Donaldson... just to mention a few...laugh

Also check out The Mayor of Casterbridge and Far From The Madding Crowd...thumbs up

Too many favorites but The Legend Of Bagger Vance is a fantastic book. The movie version was horrible.

I also liked James Michener's Chesapeake and Charles Dickens' Nicholas Nickelby and Great Expectations.
