hopefloats: I thought this would be fun thread to carry on for anyone who wants to post what kind of weather you're having since there are people from all over the world here.

Radio commentator, Paul Harvey once said that if you want to use your heat AND air in the same day, just live in Tennessee. VERY TRUE!

Its been rather cold here in southern UK recently but rather mild today. Shouldn't complain, its been much better than we have been used to in the past.

Blimey.... I feel like a weather forecaster!! doh

Sorry, dear. I read it a few minutes ago. My car almost didn't start one day earlier this week and my friend was telling me that I need to buy something to keep the oil warmed(?) because I bought my car in the south, where we don't need such things.

Em looked at me and said, "Why did you move us HERE?" I reminded her that it was a joint decision. It was better weather when we made that decision though and we were happy to be away from the little black biting flies that they have in MN. laugh

Well, you're talking about something called a "block heater," Dana. My Yukon has one (though I never plug it in), and my Volvo doesn't

One problem might be that your oil is too "thick." You should have 5 - 30 weight in there now (it gets thicker as the numbers rise). The engine has more trouble turning over when the thicker oil gets very cold. Sometimes the engine will turn over and oil won't get to where it needs to be as quickly as desirable. The block heater would cost you 2- 300 dollars, including installation. I don't know if you have a garage available, but that might help.wave hug

Thank you, that's it. I do have a garage. I had thought about using, but haven't bothered. laugh

I also have the wrong oil, but as it's time for an oil change anyway, I'll fix that part quickly enough. Thanks. wine

That should help, Dana. Also, the garage...I'm assuming it has electrical. You could use a little heater and turn it down on the lowest setting on one of the god-awful -15 or below nights. The rest of the time, it should be okay (you've already started it in temps near that).

Oh...you might want to check you coolant, too, when the oil's changed.
