Here is a story that will demonstrate the pain that religion can cause:

For those of you who know me such as Stress you will have heard this before so I apologise....

LOVE WINS OVER RELIGION

Just after the war a young man finishes work and heads for the local pub. He claps eyes on a girl serving behind the family pub bar...

He begins to frequent this local drinking spot for a quick one after work and strikes up conversation to learn the girl is one of thirteen brothers and sisters and they now again work for their father behind the bar.

He looks forward every evening to seeing this girl and eventually has the courage to ask her to go to a dance... The father agrees happily. He likes this young man with the huge big eyes, warm smile and gentle nature.

All is going well they become a courting couple..then one evening the guy asks for the girl's hand..the father asks what religion he is...then the father says very quietly and straight to the point get out my pub and never come back, never see my daughter again...

The female is distraught and has a arguement with her father... he physically locks her in her bedroom and there she will stay..
To have so many sibling comes in handy. A sister packs her case and the girl literally physically jumps out of tenament bedroom window several stories up and lives to tell the tale.

She goes to live with the guy's parents and the next year she is married from that house and in the church of his religion...as she walks up the aisle not one member of her family are there to see how beautiful she looks from head to toe in white parachute silk..

Upon the birth of her first child her mother comes to see her and it is agreed she may bring her children on a Saturday afternoon to see the family when the Father is out.... the relationship is fractured and the children know they are not treated the same as the cousins.
Religion is never discussed in the house and the children are allowed to make up their own mind about it..

When the said girl now an elderly lady is on her death bed she asks her grand daughter to do one thing for her...yes sure anything... The request shocks but is perfectly understood get a priest to give the last rites...as the lady slips into her eternal sleep the grand daughter slips a rosary in her hand which she clutches turns and smiles...closes her eyes for good with a smile upon her face she goes to look upon what she has always believed but lived life for love of her family but with a gentle, private, strong belief that never altered... the lady died with a magically, mystical smile.

The granddaughter honours her grandmother with a funeral that she knows her grandmother would have desired...the least she can do for a lady who lived life with such pure and gentle love accepting everything and one!

And the issue WOULD have to be discussed, so as Sommer said, Make tea and discuss the issue then, as you look in their eyes.

I was taught if you Love someone very much, you want him/her to be happy.

I did let my Husband go bc I Loved him and wanted him to be happy. He did not want to remain married to me but go with her. So, I let him go after I had asked him, if he would not try and salvage the Love we had and he said no.

Why force someone to stay with you? That would only make both of you miserable-that is no way to be. Far better to demonstrate True Love and Love them enough to let them go in peace and love.

In further reference to some of your posts, I would rather have a man that is not considered a real man, like Pretzelman, by your country's standards than one that would do violence.

Smile, no. Cancel all plans for immediate travel and take the time to boot his butt out the door with all of his stuff, and not leave until the locks were changed? Yes. This is a zero tolerance issue for me. He'd find out that I'm even more dangerous when I'm quiet and controlled than when I'm yelling. It's also the signal that I'm very serious, and about to be deadly if pushed any further. It would not be the time to argue with me at all...or even to speak to me.

Well i seem to remember a suitable line and situation from that film that matches this scenario exactly.

She's at the dock carrying an Axe, and her previous partner is on the floor, after being half eaten by a monster.

She does the obvious......

"I'm missing you already"....swiftly followed by a blow with the axe.

Maybe this is also a way for quickie divorces?

Funny, in one string you tell us Americans are war mongers, and on another the American guys are not real men because they don't hurt or kill their wives. I think it takes more strength to walk away then to get even, even children do this. I say good for you pretzelman, you took the high road!
