Quest For The Christmas Roast
Quest For The Christmas Roast
Diamond
So here it is,,my second Christmas alone. Okay so nuff of that.
Now I had a second chance at fixing a Roast. Last Christmas I spent $13.00 for one. This year $16.00.
This year i decided not to add 80 Proof Whiskey for flavor since last year's concoction exploded on my oven.
Well so I know Chili is out for me since I had to go to emergency and spend over a week in ICU with many I.V.'s dripping all sorts of strange things into my arms.
Simply put,I made Chili to die for and nearly did,,,,
After some consideration and lacking a recipe book,,I got a bag of onion soup and mixed 2-1/2 cups of water with it and poured it over this years Roast.
That turned into a big watery mess so I poured it out and cleaned up my drainboard. Next I decided to put the Roast in some tin-foil and wrap it up since i figured there has to be someway to cook the thing without it running all over the place when it got drippy with hot oil.
I called a friend
and she told me I'd done that part right. So i also cooked it at 350 degs. for 4-1/2 hrs. and boy was it tough!
Actually figure the stove's controls are like drivinga Jeep so I would move the Temp. knob back and forth periodically 100deg.-350 deg. as warranted by the cook. I felt the cooking would need some talented heat adjusting now and then.
I called another friend and was told to cook it slow and at a lower temp. That way the heat would break down the toughness and make it more tender.
So theerfore I turned the heat down to 100 deg.
I did and so now the Roast has over 10 hrs. of cooking time and I figure it'll come right along.
Early Christmas Eve,today, after checking that the Roast hadn't stuck to the bottom of the tupperware Crock bowl,,,,I got up about 4;30 and dumped some veggies in with the Roast to make it look better.
Looks fair with all them carrots,taters-n-stuff floating around and around.
I bought the Roast yesterday at about 2;30 in the afternoon and it's been cooking right along now for, since that time.
So now my question is this,,,,,how much longer ?:confused
:
I figure the Roast has been cooking right along for over 15 hrs. now.
When does this all end ?
Should I drop some Tomatoes in it now ?

Hi D, I think you would be better off jumping in your
vehicle, coming to Nebraska and having a meal with
me, my son and my daughter.

Thank you, buddy...you just made me feel like a chef. In comparison to this, I am. Go out for dinner. Usually the local VFW's have food just for people like you.
Merry Christmas, my friend.
