I never met a lobster I did'nt like.

Neither did I...until I moved to PA and discovered what they call "lobster"...Longostino Lobster, aka African King Crayfish. NOT the same.

As to real lobster...nope, still never met one of those I didn't like! Give me that plastic bib and the biggest one ya got...and the butter. Don't forget the butter. Add a side of steamers, I'm in HEAVEN! (steamers=steamed clams for those not from New England)...and I learned not to eat those here in PA either. No ocean water, they cut the spouts off, and they look at you weird when you want butter.

Look at that verse again, you'll see that it says those foods are "unclean to you" not an abomination to God.

In a landlocked desert country full of flies like the Sinai, and living in tents (as they were at the time), with open latrines, why do you think God would warn them about eating mullosks, crustaceans and pork, calling those foods "unclean".

Is God just being bossy, or is there a health hazard involved with eating those foods under those conditions?

Deut. 14:10 And whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye may not eat; it is unclean unto you.

In tropical countries people won't even consider eating fish that isn't alive when they buy it. It's too dangerous. And that's even more true for mollusks and crustaceans.


Furthermore, you addressed "Christians" in particular on this issue, when in fact, that verse came from a time many hundreds of years before Christians existed.

There's been a whole new testament since then, specifically for Christians. And in that New Testament, God specifically said that all the formerly unclean foods are now clean.

Here's that passage.

Peter went up on the housetop to pray at about noon. 10 He became hungry and desired to eat, but while they were preparing, he fell into a trance. 11 He saw heaven opened and a certain container descending to him,... 12 in which were all kinds of ... wild animals, reptiles, and birds. 13 A voice came to him saying, "Rise, Peter, kill and eat!" 14 But Peter said, "No, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is unclean." 15 A voice came to him again the second time, "What God has cleansed, you must not call unclean." 16 This was done three times, and immediately the vessel was received up into heaven.

That passage applies in 2 different ways.

1. Literally, Foods considered unclean to the Jews according to the Mosaic law, are clean for Christians, because not only had improved hygene greatly reduced the health danger, but also because Christians are not under the Mosaic law, but are under grace, through faith in Jesus.

2. Metaphorically, the passage refers to the fact that "gentiles" (considered inherently unclean by the Jews) are, through Christ, able to be cleansed through washing.

In another passage, Jesus spoke specifically about the question of whether eating "unclean" foods could defile someone.

Mathew 15
10. Then calling out to the crowd, He addressed them, “Listen and understand! 11 It is not what goes into the mouth that makes a person unclean. It is what comes out of the mouth that makes a person unclean.” ... 17 ... everything that goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and is expelled as waste. 18 But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and it is those things that make a person unclean. 19 It is out of the heart that evil thoughts come, as well as murder, adultery, fornication, stealing, false testimony, and slander. 20 These are the things that make a person unclean.

James expounds on that same point, that it is what comes out of the mouth, and out of the heart, that poisons a person spiritually.

Jas 3:7 For all kinds of beasts, and birds, and serpents, and sea creatures have been tamed by mankind: 8 But nobody can tale the tongue. it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

So, Rattler, don't worry about us Christians eating seafood.
We have permission.

It's the venom that comes out of the mouth that that defiles a person.

Leviticus 11:9-12 says:
9 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.
10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:
11 They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.
12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

I saw that in Leviticus. What’s the deal? Why does god hate shellfish so? He seems to really like fat also. He's always talking about fat and he always wants fat for a sacrifice and a "sweet savor unto the Lord."

A couple other issues in Leviticus concerning what you can and cant eat.

11:19 And the stork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.

Bats are not birds. They are the ONLY flying mammal in existence. Doesn’t god know these things about the animals he himself was alleged to have "created?"

11:5 And the coney, because he cheweth the cud , but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

11:6 And the hare, because he cheweth the cud , but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

The bible says that hares and coneys are unclean because they "chew the cud" but do not part the hoof. But hares and coneys are not ruminants and they do not "chew the cud."

The OT is the bible or were you not aware of this? It was in fact written PRIOR to the NT. The first Christians were Jews. The god allegedly giving these Laws was the same god, Yahweh.
